Abstract
Population growth in West Jakarta, particularly in the Slipi area, has increased the demand for vertical housing due to limited land availability. However, urban density and the scarcity of green open space have negatively affected residents’ quality of life. This study proposes the design of an apartment complex using a biophilic architectural approach as a sustainable solution to restore the human nature connection while improving overall living quality. The methodology consists of literature review, site analysis, precedent studies, and the application of biophilic principles in architectural design. The main concept, Biophilic Wellness Sanctuary, is realized through a floating podium as a semipublic space, louvered massing to reduce heat and maintain privacy, as well as the integration of vertical greenery and nature framing. Sustainability strategies are implemented by optimizing the rooftop with a roof garden to reduce building temperature and provide communal activity space, installation of solar panels as a renewable energy source, rainwater harvesting with storage tanks for irrigation and water efficiency, and the use of eco-friendly. The design results demonstrate a biophilic apartment that enhances residents’ visual, thermal, and psychological comfort while delivering a sustainable living environment responsive to the site context. The inclusion of greenery and communal spaces further supports psychological well-being by creating a calming atmosphere through shared activities such as gardening, light exercise, and social interaction. Keywords: Apartment, Biophilic Architecture, Vertical Housing, Sustainability Pertumbuhan penduduk di Jakarta Barat, khususnya kawasan Slipi, mendorong meningkatnya kebutuhan hunian vertikal akibat keterbatasan lahan. Namun, kepadatan kota dan keterbatasan ruang terbuka hijau berdampak pada penurunan kualitas hidup masyarakat. Penelitian ini merancang apartemen dengan pendekatan arsitektur biophilic sebagai solusi berkelanjutan yang memulihkan keterhubungan manusia dengan alam sekaligus meningkatkan kualitas hunian. Metode yang digunakan meliputi studi literatur, analisis tapak, studi preseden, serta penerapan prinsip biophilic dalam desain arsitektur. Konsep utama Biophilic Wellness Sanctuary diwujudkan melalui podium terapung sebagai ruang semi publik, massa ber-louver untuk mereduksi panas sekaligus menjaga privasi, serta penerapan tanaman vertikal dan nature framing. Strategi keberlanjutan diterapkan dengan mengoptimalkan rooftop melalui roof garden yang berfungsi menurunkan suhu bangunan sekaligus menjadi wadah aktivitas komunal penghuni, pemasangan solar panel sebagai sumber energi terbarukan, penerapan rainwater harvesting dengan penampung air hujan untuk penyiraman dan efisiensi air, serta penggunaan material ramah lingkungan. Hasil perancangan menunjukkan apartemen biophilic yang mampu meningkatkan kenyamanan visual, termal, dan psikologis penghuni, sekaligus menghadirkan hunian berkelanjutan yang responsif terhadap konteks tapak. Kehadiran elemen hijau dan ruang interaksi sosial turut memperkuat aspek psikologis dengan menciptakan suasana yang lebih menenangkan melalui aktivitas komunal seperti berkebun, olahraga ringan, dan bersosialisasi antar penghuni.
