Abstract

Data security in user identification systems is a serious challenge in the digital era, particularly due to traditional methods being vulnerable to cyberattacks. Blockchain is one solution, offering a decentralized, encrypted, and transparent system capable of enhancing data integrity and protection. However, its implementation has not been optimal due to technical and infrastructure issues. This study aims to analyze the application of blockchain to improve data security and integrity in user identification systems, including the mechanisms, implementation barriers in Indonesia, and its compliance with Personal Data Protection regulations. This research is a qualitative descriptive research and development (R&D) approach through simulation studies. The product developed is a blockchain-based user identification system application, which was tested through the implementation of block validation features, data security, and simulations of data exchange between institutions. The study results show that the blockchain implementation successfully improves data security and integrity in the user identification system through biometric verification, encrypted data recording, and transparency of user activity. This system also supports personal data protection in accordance with regulations, although it still faces challenges such as synchronization between institutions and hash validation between nodes. It is recommended that the development of blockchain-based identification systems continue to be encouraged, particularly by increasing integration between institutions and fulfilling digital infrastructure to support broader and sustainable data security. Keamanan data dalam sistem identifikasi pengguna menjadi tantangan serius di era digital terutama akibat metode tradisional yang rentan terhadap serangan siber. Blockchain merupakan salah satu solusi dengan sistem terdesentralisasi, terenkripsi, dan transparan yang mampu meningkatkan integritas dan perlindungan data. Namun, dalam penerapannya belum optimal akibat permasalahan teknik serta infrastruktur. Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis penerapan blockchain dalam meningkatkan keamanan dan integritas data pada sistem identifikasi pengguna termasuk mekanisme, hambatan implementasi di Indonesia, serta kesesuaiannya dengan regulasi Perlindungan Data Pribadi. Penelitian ini termasuk penelitian pengembangan (R&D) pendekatan deskriptif kualitatif melalui studi simulasi. Produk yang dikembangkan adalah aplikasi sistem identifikasi pengguna berbasis blockchain yang diuji melalui implementasi fitur validasi blok, keamanan data, dan simulasi pertukaran data antar lembaga. Hasil penelitian diperolah implementasi blockchain berhasil meningkatkan keamanan juga integritas data pada sistem identifikasi pengguna melalui verifikasi biometrik, pencatatan data terenkripsi, dan transparansi aktivitas pengguna. Sistem ini juga mendukung perlindungan data pribadi sesuai regulasi, meskipun masih menghadapi tantangan seperti sinkronisasi antar instansi dan validasi hash antar node. Disarankan agar pengembangan sistem identifikasi berbasis blockchain terus didorong terutama dengan peningkatan integrasi antar lembaga dan pemenuhan infrastruktur digital untuk mendukung keamanan data yang lebih luas serta berkelanjutan.
