Abstract
Conveyor belts are components used to transport goods in various industries to move semi-finished and finished goods from production. Downtime caused by open joints and broken conveyor belts at the joint areas results in downtime of 8–12 hours, with open joints occurring approximately every 3–4 months. Therefore, it is necessary to review the specifications of the conveyor belt, troughability angle, and pulley diameter, as well as identify the causes of carcass fatigue in the conveyor belt. The primary objective of this study is to determine the optimal specifications for the conveyor belt, troughability angle, and pulley diameter, as well as analyzing the influence of troughability angle and pulley diameter on fatigue in the conveyor belt carcass and optimizing conveyor belt design parameters using the CEMA calculation method, which will then be validated using ABAQUS software-based simulation methods to increase the service life of the conveyor belt. The research method used in this study involves calculating the bending stress that occurs when the conveyor belt passes through the pulley to analyze whether the bending stress is appropriate. This will then be validated using finite element analysis simulation with ABAQUS software, simulating the fatigue cycle of the conveyor belt carcass until fatigue occurs based on actual conditions, including conveyor belt specifications and actual pulley diameter and troughability. The results enable us to identify the causes of fatigue in the conveyor belt carcass, allowing us to recommend optimal specifications for the conveyor belt, optimal troughability angle, and optimal pulley diameter, thereby maximizing the service life of the conveyor belt. Keyword: conveyor belt, carcass, pulley, fatigue, troughability Conveyor belt merupakan komponen pemindahan barang yang umumnya dipakai diberbagai macam industri untuk mengangkut barang setengah jadi maupun barang jadi dari hasil produksi. Downtime yang disebabkan oleh area sambungan yang terbuka dan conveyor belt yang putus pada area sambungan, hal ini mengakibatkan downtime 8-12 jam dengan frekuensi terjadi sambungan terbuka sekitar 3-4 bulan oleh karena itu diperlukan peninjauan terkait spesifikasi conveyor belt, sudut troughability dan, diameter pulley serta mengetahui penyebab carcass fatigue pada conveyor belt sehingga tujuan utama dari penelitian yaitu menentukan spesifikasi optimal pada conveyor belt, sudut troughability, dan diameter pulley dan juga menganalisis pengaruh sudut troughability dan diameter pulley terhadap fatigue pada carcass conveyor belt serta mengoptimalkan parameter-parameter desain conveyor belt menggunakan metode perhitungan CEMA lalu akan akan divalidasi dengan metode simulasi berbasis perangkat lunak ABAQUS untuk meningkatkan umur pakai conveyor belt. Metode penelitian yang dipakai pada penelitian yaitu memakai perhitungan tegangan bending yang terjadi ketika conveyor belt melewati pulley untuk menganalisis apakah tegangan bending yang terjadi sesuai setelah itu akan divalidasi dengan simulasi finite element analysis dengan software ABAQUS dengan adanya simulasi terhadap siklus fatigue pada carcass conveyor belt hingga mengalami fatigue berdasarkan kondisi aktual baik dari spesifikasi conveyor belt ataupun aktual diameter pulley dan troughability. Hasil sehingga kita dapat mengidentifikasi penyebab fatigue yang terjadi pada carcass conveyor belt lalu kita dapat merekomendasikan spesifikasi yang optimal untuk conveyor belt, sudut troughability dan diameter pulley yang optimal serta bisa memaksimalkan umur dari conveyor belt.
