Abstract

Solar energy is one of the renewable energy sources that offers high efficiency and minimal negative impact on the environment. Nevertheless, the performance of solar panels can fluctuate due to surrounding conditions such as sunlight intensity, air temperature, and the cleanliness of the module surface. Performance degradation often goes unnoticed due to the limitations of manual monitoring. Therefore, an automatic monitoring system is needed to provide early warnings when the panel’s efficiency decreases. This research focuses on the design and development of a solar panel performance monitoring system integrated with the Internet of Things (IoT) concept, utilizing the ESP32 microcontroller as the central controller. The system is equipped with voltage and current sensors to calculate the panel’s output power in real-time and uses the Telegram platform as the medium for sending notifications when the output power drops below a predetermined threshold. The test results show that the system achieves a sensor reading accuracy of ±97% compared to actual values measured using a multimeter. The system can automatically send Telegram notifications within an average of 2.1 seconds after a drop in power is detected. Based on performance reduction scenarios caused by shading and overheating, the system can detect a power decrease of more than 20% compared to optimal conditions. The effectiveness of using ESP32 and Telegram has been reinforced by studies conducted by Belchior, F., Artur, M., Rabelo, D., & Souza, D. (2024) and Martínez, F. H. (2022), which demonstrate that similar systems can be implemented reliably at low cost and with real-time responsiveness. Thus, this system has proven capable of providing efficient early warnings of solar panel performance degradation, enabling users to take corrective action promptly. Energi surya termasuk salah satu sumber energi terbarukan yang menawarkan efisiensi tinggi serta minim dampak negatif terhadap lingkungan. Meski demikian, performa panel surya dapat berubah-ubah karena dipengaruhi oleh kondisi sekitar, seperti tingkat pencahayaan matahari, temperatur udara, dan kebersihan permukaan modul.. Penurunan kinerja sering tidak disadari karena keterbatasan pemantauan secara manual. Oleh karena itu, dibutuhkan sistem monitoring otomatis yang mampu memberikan peringatan dini ketika efisiensi panel menurun. Riset ini difokuskan pada perancangan dan pembuatan sistem pemantauan kinerja panel surya yang terintegrasi dengan konsep Internet of Things (IoT), dengan memanfaatkan mikrokontroler ESP32 sebagai pusat pengendali. Sistem ini dilengkapi dengan sensor tegangan dan arus untuk menghitung daya keluaran panel secara real-time, dan menggunakan platform Telegram sebagai media pengirim notifikasi apabila daya keluaran turun di bawah ambang batas tertentu. Hasil pengujian sistem menunjukkan kemampuan akurasi pembacaan sensor sebesar ±97% terhadap nilai aktual yang diukur oleh multimeter. Sistem mampu mengirimkan notifikasi Telegram secara otomatis dalam waktu rata-rata 2,1 detik setelah penurunan daya terdeteksi. Berdasarkan skenario penurunan performa karena shading dan overheating, sistem dapat mendeteksi penurunan daya lebih dari 20% dibandingkan kondisi optimal. Efektivitas penggunaan ESP32 dan Telegram telah diperkuat dalam studi oleh Belchior, F., Artur, M., Rabelo, D., & Souza, D., 2024. dan Martínez, F. H., 2022, yang menunjukkan bahwa sistem serupa dapat diimplementasikan secara andal dengan biaya rendah dan respons real-time. Dengan demikian, sistem ini terbukti mampu memberikan peringatan dini penurunan performa panel surya secara efisien, memungkinkan pengguna untuk mengambil tindakan korektif dengan cepat.
