Abstract

The advancement of information technology has increased the public’s demand for fast and efficient internet access. To address this need, FTTH (Fiber To The Home) networks using optical fiber media have become a solution, as they can deliver high-speed data and support data, voice, and video services within a single system. Despite its many advantages, such as large capacity and resistance to interference, this technology still faces challenges like signal attenuation that can affect service quality. This study uses measurement analysis and link budget calculations to evaluate the feasibility of the designed FTTH network. It also examines the causes of attenuation in fiber optic networks, its impact on network quality, and explores solutions to reduce attenuation to maintain optimal network performance. The results show that the attenuation and signal reception measurements for the FTTH network using GPON technology are within standard tolerance limits, with attenuation ranging from 6.513 dB to 18.368 dB and signal power between - 3.513 dBm and -15.368 dBm. Therefore, the network is technically feasible and ready for use without significant risk of signal degradation. To maintain network quality, it is essential to use components that meet standards, apply proper installation techniques, perform regular maintenance with specialized measuring tools, and protect or replace cables when damaged or experiencing high attenuation. Keywords: FTTH, GPON, Attenuation, Link Budget, Fiber Optic Perkembangan teknologi informasi mendorong meningkatnya kebutuhan masyarakat akan internet yang cepat dan efisien. Untuk itu, jaringan FTTH (Fiber To The Home) dengan media serat optik menjadi solusi karena mampu menyalurkan data berkecepatan tinggi serta mendukung layanan data, suara, dan video dalam satu sistem. Meskipun memiliki banyak keunggulan, seperti kapasitas besar dan ketahanan terhadap gangguan, teknologi ini masih menghadapi tantangan seperti redaman sinyal yang dapat memengaruhi kualitas layanan. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode analisis pengukuran dan perhitungan link budget yang digunakan untuk menilai kelayakan jaringan FTTH yang dirancang. Selain itu, penelitian ini juga mengkaji penyebab redaman pada jaringan serat optik, dampaknya terhadap kualitas jaringan, serta mencari solusi untuk mengurangi redaman agar kinerja jaringan tetap optimal. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa pengukuran dan perhitungan jaringan FTTH untuk teknologi GPON menunjukkan nilai redaman dan daya terima sinyal berada dalam batas toleransi standar, yaitu dengan redaman berkisar antara 6,513 dB hingga 18,368 dB dan daya terima sinyal antara -3,513 dBm sampai - 15,368 dBm. Sehingga jaringan dinyatakan layak secara teknis dan siap digunakan tanpa risiko besar akibat pelemahan sinyal. Agar kualitas jaringan tetap terjaga, diperlukan penggunaan komponen yang sesuai standar, instalasi yang tepat, perawatan rutin dengan alat ukur khusus, serta perlindungan dan penggantian kabel jika terjadi kerusakan atau redaman tinggi.
