Abstract

Penelitian ini mengkaji hubungan antara motivasi belajar dan stres akademik pada siswa/i SMAN 35 Jakarta yang sedang mempersiapkan diri untuk ujian masuk universitas. Fenomena yang melatarbelakangi penelitian ini adalah tingginya stres akademik di kalangan siswa/i SMAN 35 Jakarta, yang dipicu oleh beban tugas, ketakutan akan kegagalan masuk universitas impian, dan kurangnya waktu belajar akibat padatnya kegiatan ekstrakurikuler, serta kesulitan manajemen waktu. Pra-riset menunjukkan bahwa sebagian besar siswa belum memiliki strategi efektif untuk mengelola stres ini. Penelitian ini melibatkan 205 responden siswa/i berusia 16-18 tahun, dengan mayoritas berusia 17 tahun dan berjenis kelamin perempuan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa mayoritas siswa berada pada kategori stres akademik dan motivasi belajar sedang. Terdapat hubungan negatif yang lemah namun signifikan antara motivasi belajar dan stres akademik (r = -0.228; p = 0.001), mengindikasikan bahwa motivasi belajar yang lebih tinggi cenderung berkorelasi dengan tingkat stres akademik yang lebih rendah. Secara multidimensional, dimensi afektif dari motivasi belajar menunjukkan korelasi positif signifikan dengan stres akademik, yang berarti keterlibatan emosional yang tinggi dalam belajar dapat meningkatkan tekanan stres. Sebaliknya, dimensi harapan dan nilai motivasi belajar tidak menunjukkan hubungan signifikan dengan stres akademik secara keseluruhan, meskipun dimensi harapan dan nilai memiliki korelasi negatif signifikan dengan ekspektasi diri sebagai aspek stres akademik. Analisis demografi tambahan mengungkapkan bahwa siswa berusia 16 dan 18 tahun memiliki tingkat stres akademik lebih tinggi dibandingkan usia 17 tahun, dan laki-laki memiliki motivasi belajar lebih tinggi daripada perempuan. Selain itu, siswa yang mengimpikan Universitas Gajah Mada memiliki tingkat stres akademik tertinggi, sementara yang menginginkan Institut Pertanian Bogor menunjukkan tingkat stres akademik terendah dan motivasi belajar terendah karena tidak merasa tertekan. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa motivasi belajar memiliki peran penting dalam memengaruhi tingkat stres akademik siswa, meskipun dinamikanya kompleks, terutama terkait dengan aspek emosional dalam belajar. This study examines the relationship between learning motivation and academic stress among students of SMAN 35 Jakarta who are preparing for university entrance exams. The phenomenon that underlies this study is the high academic stress among students of SMAN 35 Jakarta, which is triggered by the burden of assignments, fear of failure to enter the dream university, and limited study time due to busy extracurricular activities, as well as time management difficulties. Pre-research shows that most students do not have effective strategies to manage this stress. This study involved 205 student respondents aged 16-18 years, with the majority being 17 years old and female. The results showed that the majority of students were in the category of academic stress and moderate learning motivation. There was a weak but significant negative relationship between learning motivation and academic stress (r = -0.228 p = 0.001), indicating that higher learning motivation tends to correlate with lower levels of academic stress. Multidimensionally, the affective dimension of learning motivation showed a significant positive correlation with academic stress, which means that high emotional involvement in learning can increase stress pressure. In contrast, the dimensions of hope and value of learning motivation did not show a significant relationship with overall academic stress, although the dimensions of hope and value had a significant negative correlation with self-expectations as an aspect of academic stress. Additional demographic analysis revealed that students aged 16 and 18 years had higher levels of academic stress than 17 years old, and males had higher learning motivation than females. In addition, students who dreamed of Gajah Mada University had the highest levels of academic stress, while those who wanted Bogor Agricultural University showed the lowest levels of academic stress and the lowest learning motivation due to not feeling pressured. This study concludes that learning motivation plays an important role in influencing students' academic stress levels, although the dynamics are complex, especially related to the emotional aspects of learning.
