Abstract

The increasing number of motorized vehicles in Indonesia has a significant impact on greenhouse gas emissions, especially carbon dioxide (CO2). Converting fossil-fueled vehicles to electric vehicles (EVs) is an urgent solution to reduce these emissions. This research aims to design and build a microcontroller-based emission calculator to calculate the estimated emissions of conventional vehicles and compare them with those of vehicles converted to electric vehicles. This tool is designed using Arduino Uno, GPS, LCD, and 8 GB MMC to measure the distance traveled and calculate the estimated CO2 emissions based on empirical data. The test results show that an electric vehicle traveling 150,427 km produces no direct emissions, thus potentially avoiding emissions of 10.615 kg of CO2. This value is equivalent to the absorption of 0.4825 trees per year and contributes to reducing the risk of 0.0042 cases of premature death due to air pollution. This calculator is not only a technical aid, but also functions as a visual educational medium for the public on the importance of reducing carbon emissions. Keywords : Carbon Emissions, Emission Calculator, Conversion Motor ICE to EV Peningkatan jumlah kendaraan bermotor di Indonesia berdampak signifikan terhadap emisi gas rumah kaca, terutama karbon dioksida (CO2). Konversi kendaraan berbahan bakar fosil menjadi kendaraan listrik (EV) menjadi solusi yang mendesak untuk mengurangi emisi tersebut. Penelitian ini bertujuan merancang dan membangun kalkulator emisi berbasis mikrokontroler untuk menghitung estimasi emisi kendaraan konvensional dan membandingkannya dengan kendaraan hasil konversi listrik. Alat ini dirancang menggunakan Arduino Uno, GPS, LCD, dan MMC 8 GB untuk mengukur jarak tempuh serta menghitung estimasi emisi CO2 berdasarkan data empiris. Hasil pengujian menunjukkan bahwa kendaraan listrik yang menempuh 150,427 km tidak menghasilkan emisi langsung, sehingga berpotensi menghindari emisi sebesar 10,615 kg CO2. Nilai ini setara dengan serapan 0,482 pohon per tahun dan berkontribusi terhadap pengurangan risiko 0,0042 kasus kematian dini akibat polusi udara. Kalkulator ini tidak hanya menjadi alat bantu teknis, tetapi juga berfungsi sebagai media edukasi visual bagi masyarakat terhadap pentingnya pengurangan emisi karbon.
