Abstract

The Production Department in the material section of the tire company has an extruder machine that produces one of the components of the tire, namely the Cap and Sidewall. The Cap is the part of the tire tread that is designed to provide gripping power and transmit power from the vehicle engine to the road surface and plays an important role in preventing slippage with certain patterns such as symmetrical, asymmetrical, or unidirectional. The Sidewall is the part of the tire sidewall that is continuously flexed and protects the side casing. In the material section, both materials are combined to make a product called tread material. In the tread material production process. Defective tread material or material that does not comply with the specifications must be immediately re-milled because the life of the tread material is only 4 days. This study aims to create a machine or tool that makes it easier for operators to cut tread material so that the Cap and Sidewall parts are separated. By making a roll conveyor equipped with a cutting knife. The method used in this study is the VDI 2222 design method. The results of the tread material cutting machine construction design are safe to use based on the load simulation and material strength calculations that have been carried out. Testing on the roll conveyor and cutting knife was declared successful because it was able to function well and was able to increase the tread material cutting process from the previous average of 3 minutes/piece in January to March, in April, May, and June or an average of 1 minute/piece. So it can reduce scrap from the cause of expired tread material. Further research is recommended to conduct a price calculation study, so that the impact and costs incurred from the research are clearly measured. Keyword: Extruder, Tread, Sidewall, Defect, Roll conveyor Departemen Produksi pada section material di perusahaan ban terdapat mesin extruder yang menghasilkan salah satu bagian penyusun ban yaitu Cap dan Sidewall. Cap merupakan bagian telapak ban yang dirancang untuk memberikan kekuatan pencengkraman dan meneruskan tenaga dari mesin kendaraan ke permukaan jalan dan berperan penting dalam mencegah slip dengan pola pola tertentu seperti simetris, asimetris, atau searah. Sidewall merupakan bagian dinding samping ban yang terusmenerus melentur dan pelindung casing bagian samping. Pada section material kedua material digabung untuk dijadikan produk bernama material tread. Didalam proses produksi material tread. Material tread defect atau tidak sesuai dengan ketentuan spec harus segera di proses penggilingan ulang dikarenakan masa pakai material tread hanya 4 hari. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk membuat mesin atau alat yang memudahkan operator dalam memotong material tread sehingga bagian Cap dan Sidewall terpisah. Dengan membuat roll conveyor dilengkapi pisau pemotong. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu metode perancangan VDI 2222. Hasil perancangan desain konstruksi mesin pemotong material tread aman digunakan berdasarkan simulasi pembebanan dan perhitungan kekuatan material yang telah dilakukan. Pengujian pada roll conveyor dan pisau pemotong dinyatakan berhasil karena mampu berfungsi dengan baik dan dapat menaikan proses pemotongan material tread dari sebelumnya rata-rata 3 menit/pcs pada bulan Januari sampai Maret, pada bulan April, Mei, Juni atau rata-rata menjadi 1 menit/pcs. Sehingga dapat menurunkan scrap dari penyebab material tread expired. Penelitian selanjutnya disarankan untuk dilakukannya studi perhitungan harga, agar dampak dan biaya yang dikeluarkan dari penelitian terukur dengan jelas.
