Abstract
The increasing number of elderly people in Indonesia drives the need for housing that meets their comfort, health, and sustainability. Sentul, Bogor, an area with good natural resources and accessibility, was chosen as a strategic location for the design of a Senior Living Center. This study aims to design a senior living facility that is not only functional but also supports the quality of life through a Biophilic Design approach. This approach integrates natural elements into the built space through three main categories: Nature in Space, Natural Analogue, and Nature in Space, to improve the psychological and physiological well-being of residents. The methods used include a literature review, field observation, site analysis, and precedent studies. The design results show that the application of biophilic principles, such as natural lighting, cross-ventilation, indoor vegetation, natural materials, and open landscape views, can create a healthy and calming living environment and foster an emotional connection between the elderly and their natural environment. This design is expected to serve as a reference in the development of humanistic and sustainable senior living facilities in the future. Keywords: architectural design, senior living center, biophilic design, elderly, Sentul Bogor, Pertumbuhan jumlah lansia di Indonesia mendorong kebutuhan akan hunian yang mampu memenuhi aspek kenyamanan, kesehatan, dan keberlanjutan hidup para penghuni lanjut usia.
