Abstract

This study aims to analyze the relationship between stress and verbal aggression among online game players. Stress is an emotional response that appears due to stressful events in a person's life, while verbal aggression is the act of hurting others through words or verbal symbols. This research used a quantitative method with a correlational approach. The sample consisted of 268 online game players selected using accidental sampling. Stress was measured using the stress subscale from the Depression Anxiety Stress Scale (DASS-21) by Lovibond and Lovibond (1995), and verbal aggression was measured using the Verbal Aggressiveness Scale (VAS) by Infante and Wigley (1986). The results showed a significant positive relationship between stress and verbal aggression (r = 0.599; p < 0.05), which means that the higher the stress level of the players, the more likely they are to show verbal aggression. These findings highlight the importance of stress management and emotional awareness in the context of online gaming. Keywords : stress, verbal aggression, online games Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis hubungan antara stres dan perilaku agresi verbal pada pemain game online. Stres merupakan respon emosional yang muncul akibat peristiwa - peristiwa menekan dalam kehidupan seseorang, sedangkan agresi verbal merupakan tindakan menyakiti orang lain melalui kata-kata atau simbol verbal. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kuantitatif dengan pendekatan korelasional. Sampel penelitian terdiri dari 268 pemain game online yang dipilih menggunakan teknik accidental sampling. Pengukuran stres dilakukan dengan menggunakan subskala stres dari Depression Anxiety Stress Scale (DASS21) oleh Lovibond dan Lovibond (1995), sementara pengukuran agresi verbal dilakukan dengan menggunakan Verbal Aggressiveness Scale (VAS) oleh Infante dan Wigley (1986). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat hubungan positif yang signifikan antara stres dan agresi verbal (r = 0,599; p < 0,05), yang berarti semakin tinggi tingkat stres yang dialami pemain, maka semakin tinggi juga kecenderungan mereka untuk melakukan perilaku agresi verbal. Temuan ini menekankan pentingnya manajemen stres dan kesadaran emosional dalam konteks game online. Kata Kunci : stres, agresi verbal, game online
