Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the implementation of the Zero Trust architecture in the context of Smart Home networks and analyze its effectiveness in protecting the network from Man-in-the-Middle (MitM) attacks. With the increasing use of IoT devices in Smart Home environments, the risk of MitM attacks has become a major concern, where attackers can intercept and manipulate communication between devices. This research employs a comparative method to assess the vulnerability to MitM attacks between networks implementing Zero Trust principles and those using traditional security approaches. The findings indicate that the application of Zero Trust significantly reduces vulnerability to MitM attacks compared to traditional security methods. Additionally, this study identifies the challenges faced in implementing Zero Trust in Smart Home environments and provides recommendations for developing more effective security systems. These findings are expected to serve as a reference for developers and users in designing more effective security systems for Smart Home networks. Kata kunci: Zero Trust, Smart Home Networks, Man-in-the-Middle Attacks, Network Security, IoT, Comparative Method. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan Keamanan jaringan dengan penerapan arsitektur Zero Trust dalam konteks jaringan Smart Home dan menganalisis efektivitasnya dalam melindungi jaringan dari serangan Man-in-the-Middle (MitM). Dengan meningkatnya penggunaan perangkat IoT dalam lingkungan Smart Home, risiko serangan MitM menjadi perhatian utama, di mana penyerang dapat menyadap dan memanipulasi komunikasi antara perangkat. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode komparatif untuk membandingkan tingkat kerentanan terhadap serangan MitM antara jaringan yang menerapkan prinsip-prinsip Zero Trust dan jaringan yang menggunakan pendekatan keamanan tradisional. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penerapan Zero Trust secara signifikan mengurangi kerentanan terhadap serangan MitM dibandingkan dengan pendekatan keamanan tradisional. Selain itu, penelitian ini mengidentifikasi tantangan yang dihadapi dalam penerapan Zero Trust di lingkungan Smart Home dan memberikan rekomendasi untuk pengembangan sistem keamanan yang lebih baik. Temuan ini diharapkan dapat menjadi referensi bagi pengembang dan pengguna dalam merancang sistem keamanan yang lebih efektif untuk jaringan Smart Home.
