Abstract

In the manufacturing industry, it is often found that the process of moving goods from one place to another is found. The process of moving the goods can be done with a fix machine (conveyor, hoist) or a mobile machine (forklift, hand lift). In the process of moving goods, the conveyor often experiences a breakdown every 3 months due to damage to the sprocket gear made of SUS 304 due to excessive friction with the mesh conveyor drying oven. As a result of the conveyor breakdown, it resulted in disruption of productivity on the production line and the company suffered losses. This study aims to analyses the causes of deformation of SUS 304 & S45C sprocket gears due to excessive friction with the mesh conveyor at a temperature of 200°C and a speed of 50 mpm and recommend sprocket gears that have better durability than existing sprocket gears. The damage analysis of sprocket gear made of SUS 304 material on the conveyor drying oven was carried out by the design method, fabrication of single 14T SUS 304, single 16T S45C and double 22T S45C sprockets and then deformation data was taken directly on the conveyor drying oven within 1.5 months with measurements using a digital calliper and thermal imager. The data taken is then analysed to find the cause and solution to the problem. From the results of wear testing with 3 variations of sprocket types at a conveyor drying oven speed of 50 mpm and a conveyor temperature of 200 degrees Celsius, it was found that the sprocket with the highest wear rate was in a single sprocket of 14 teeth material SUS 304dimension C which was 82% and the lowest wear rate was in double sprocket 22 teeth material S45C dimension C is 98.3%. From the wear value obtained, the service life of the three sprockets can be calculated. The shortest service life or lifetime is in the single sprocket of 14 teeth material SUS 304 with 3.25 months, while the longest service life is in the double sprocket of 22 teeth material S45C with 6 months. So it can be concluded that double sprocket 22 teeth material S45C is highly recommended for conveyor drying ovens with a speed of 50 mpm and a working temperature of 200 degrees Celsius and single sprocket 14 teeth material SUS 304 is not recommended for conveyor drying ovens. Proses pemindahan barang tersebut dapat dilakukan dengan mesin fix (conveyor, hoist) atau mesin mobile (forklift, handlift). Pada proses pemindahan barang, conveyor sering kali mengalami breakdown setiap 3 bulan sekali yang disebabkan sprocket gear bermaterial SUS 304 mengalami kerusakan akibat gesekan berlebih dengan mesh conveyor drying oven. Akibat dari breakdown conveyor tersebut, mengakibatkan terganggunya produktifitas pada line produksi dan perusahaan mengalami kerugian. Pada penelitian ini bertujuan menganailis penyebab deformasi sprocket gear SUS 304 & S45C akibat gesekan berlebih dengan mesh conveyor pada temperatur 200°C dan kecepatan 50 mpm serta rekomendasikan sprocket gear yang mempunyai durability lebih baik dari sprocket gear existing. Analisis kerusakan sprocket gear bermaterial SUS 304 pada conveyor drying oven dilakukan dengan metode design, fabrikasi sprocket single 14T SUS 304, single 16T S45C dan double 22T S45C lalu diambil data deformasi secara langsung pada conveyor drying oven dalam kurun waktu 1,5 bulan dengan pengukuran menggunakan jangka sorong digital dan thermal imager. Data yang diambil tersebut kemudian dianalisis untuk menemukan penyebab dan solusi dari permasalahan tersebut. Dari hasil pengujian keausan dengan 3 variasi tipe sprocket pada kecepatan conveyor drying oven 50 mpm dan temperatur conveyor 200 derajat celcius, didapatkan bahwa sprocket dengan tingkat keausan tertinggi ada pada single sprocket 14 teeth material SUS 304 dimensi C yaitu 82% dan tingkat keausan terendah ada pada double sprocket 22 teeth material S45C dimensi C yaitu 98,3%. Dari nilai keausan yang didapatkan, maka dapat dihitung usia pemakaian dari ketiga sprocket tersebut. Usia pemakaian atau lifetime terpendek ada pada single sprocket 14 teeth material SUS 304 dengan 3,25 bulan, sedangkan usia pemakaian terlama ada pada double sprocket 22 teeth material S45C dengan 6 bulan. Maka dapat disimpulkan bahwa double sprocket 22 teeth material S45C sangat direkomendasikan untuk conveyor drying oven dengan kecepatan 50 mpm dan temperatur kerja 200 derajat celcius serta single sprocket 14 teeth material SUS 304 tidak direkomendasikan untuk conveyor drying oven.
