Abstract
The lathe machine is one type of machine tool used to cut workpieces by rotating the workpiece while the cutting tool remains stationary. The spindle, which rotates the workpiece at high speeds as needed, is prone to damage, particularly due to imbalance that triggers excessive vibrations. This study utilizes the VibXpert II Balancer and Omnitrend software to analyze the frequency spectrum at chuck speeds of 535 RPM, 840 RPM, and 1320 RPM. Based on ISO 10816-3 standards, the highest vibration amplitude was recorded at 840 RPM, measuring 3.2 mm/s, categorized as C. The balancing process at this point successfully reduced the amplitude to 0.11 mm/s. The results indicate that variations in chuck speed affect the machine's balance condition. At 535 RPM, the machine is deemed balanced according to ISO 10816-3, while imbalance occurs at 840 RPM and 1320 RPM. Higher speeds increase the risk of vibrations, emphasizing the importance of balancing at specific speeds. Keywords : lathe, unbalance, balancing Mesin bubut merupakan salah satu jenis machine tools yang digunakan untuk memotong benda kerja dengan memutar benda kerja, sementara alat potongnya tetap diam. Spindel, yang memutar benda kerja dengan kecepatan tinggi sesuai kebutuhan, rentan mengalami kerusakan, terutama akibat unbalance yang memicu vibrasi berlebih. Penelitian ini menggunakan alat VibXpert II Balancer dan perangkat lunak Omnitrend untuk menganalisis spektrum frekuensi pada kecepatan chuck 535 RPM, 840 RPM, dan 1320 RPM. Berdasarkan standar ISO 10816-3, amplitudo vibrasi tertinggi tercatat pada 840 RPM sebesar 3,2 mm/s, yang masuk kategori C. Proses balancing pada titik ini berhasil menurunkan amplitudo menjadi 0,11 mm/s. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa variasi kecepatan chuck memengaruhi kondisi keseimbangan mesin. Pada 535 RPM, mesin dinyatakan seimbang menurut ISO 10816-3, sementara pada 840 RPM dan 1320 RPM terjadi unbalance. Kecepatan yang lebih tinggi meningkatkan risiko vibrasi, menegaskan pentingnya balancing pada kecepatan tertentu. Kata kunci : mesin bubut, unbalance, balancing.
