Abstract

Blok M is known as a shopping and entertainment center, while Kemang is better known as an area bustling with nightlife and a modern lifestyle. The LGBT lifestyle in Kemang is the main focus because Kemang is often considered a more open and accepting area of diversity. The general lifestyle refers to the majority's way of life, while an alternative lifestyle refers to different ways of living, including that of gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender individuals. One of the common issues faced by both teenagers and adults in today's era is related to the utilization of technology and information, cultural differences, gender issues, and lifestyle choices. These lifestyle choices can potentially lead to various social challenges. The phenomenon of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender individuals is an example of an alternative lifestyle that has also emerged in Indonesia. This research aims to understand how the Blok M community perceives, responds to, and interacts with the LGBT lifestyle in Kemang. This study employs a qualitative approach using a case study method based on the constructivist paradigm, conducting interviews with informants. The theory applied is Public Opinion. The research findings indicate that public opinion is divided into three main groups: the pro-LGBT group, which supports diversity and LGBT rights; the opposing group, which rejects it based on religious and cultural values; and the neutral group, which respects LGBT rights while still considering prevailing social norms. Blok M dikenal sebagai pusat perbelanjaan dan hiburan, sementara Kemang lebih dikenal sebagai kawasan yang ramai dengan kehidupan malam dan gaya hidup modern. Kehidupan LGBT di Kemang menjadi fokus utama karena Kemang sering dianggap sebagai area yang lebih bebas dan menerima keragaman. Gaya hidup umum diartikan sebagai gaya hidup mayoritas masyarakat, sementara gaya hidup alternatif merujuk pada gaya hidup yang berbeda, termasuk gay, lesbian, bisexual dan transgender. Problematika yang banyak di alami oleh remaja atau bahkan dewasa ini berkaitan dengan era kekinian antara lain adalah masalah berhubungan dengan pemanfaatan teknologi dan informasi, perbedaan budaya, isu-isu gender dan gaya hidup. Gaya hidup inilah yang dapat menjadi sebuah potensi dari timbulnya permasalahan. Fenomena seperti lesbian, gay, bisexual dan transgender merupakan salah satu contoh gaya hidup alternatif yang kini juga telah merambah di Indonesia. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memahami bagaimana masyarakat Blok M melihat, merespons dan berinteraksi dengan gaya hidup LGBT di Kemang. Tipe Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan pendekatan kualitatif dan menggunakan metode studi kasus yang berlandaskan paradigma kontruktivisme dengan melakukan wawancara kepada para informan. Teori yang digunakan dari Opini Publik. Berdasarkan Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa opini masyarakat terbagi menjadi tiga kelompok utama: kelompok pro yang mendukung keberagaman dan hak-hak LGBT, kelompok kontra yang menolak dengan alasan nilai agama dan budaya, serta kelompok netral yang menghargai hak LGBT namun tetap mempertimbangkan norma sosial yang berlaku.
