Abstract

The construction of a 180 mm MDPE gas pipeline in Bintaro Jaya aims to improve natural gas distribution for households and commercial customers. One of the main challenges in this system is the prediction of pressure loss (head loss), which can affect the efficiency and stability of gas flow. Inaccuracies in estimating head loss can result in suboptimal leakage testing and pressure distribution that does not meet customer needs. This study aims to analyze head loss in pipelines during testing and operational phases to ensure more accurate and efficient gas distribution. The methods employed include pneumatic testing and theoretical calculations using the Darcy-Weisbach and Blasius equations. The results indicate that during testing, the major head loss was 6.77 PSI, while during operation, it was 3.878 PSI, with significant variations between testing and operational conditions. The calculated major head loss was 6.095 PSI during testing and 3.497 PSI during operation. The minor head loss reached 0.675 PSI during testing and 0.380 PSI during operation. The discussion emphasizes the importance of pressure management to minimize losses and ensure system safety. In conclusion, this study provides practical recommendations to improve the efficiency and reliability of the gas pipeline network. Keyword: MDPE 180 mm Pipe, Head Loss, Darcy-Weisbach Equation Pembangunan jaringan pipa gas MDPE 180 mm di Bintaro Jaya bertujuan untuk meningkatkan distribusi gas bumi bagi rumah tangga dan pelanggan komersial. Salah satu tantangan utama dalam sistem ini adalah prediksi kehilangan tekanan (head loss), yang dapat mempengaruhi efisiensi dan kestabilan aliran gas. Ketidakakuratan dalam memperkirakan head loss dapat menyebabkan pengujian kebocoran yang kurang optimal dan distribusi tekanan yang tidak sesuai dengan kebutuhan pelanggan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis head loss pada pipa selama tahap pengujian dan operasi guna memastikan distribusi gas yang lebih akurat dan efisien. Metode yang digunakan meliputi pengujian pneumatik serta perhitungan teoritis menggunakan persamaan Darcy-Weisbach dan Blasius. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa ketika pengujian, head loss mayorsebesar 6,77 PSI dan pada saat operasi sebesar 3,878 PSI, dengan variasi signifikan pada kondisi pengujian dan operasi. Head loss mayor untuk pengujian dihitung sebesar 6,095 PSI, sedangkan untuk operasi sebesar 3,497 PSI. Head loss minor, yang mencapai 0,675 PSI untuk pengujian dan 0,380 PSI untuk operasi. Pembahasan menggarisbawahi pentingnya pengelolaan tekanan untuk meminimalkan kerugian dan memastikan keselamatan sistem. Kesimpulannya, penelitian ini memberikan rekomendasi praktis untuk peningkatan efisiensi dan keandalan jaringan pipa gas. Kata kunci: Pipa MDPE 180 mm, Head Loss, Persamaan Darcy-Weisbach
