Abstract

The Qibla direction indicator is an essential tool for Muslims to perform their prayers, yet visually impaired individuals face significant challenges in determining the direction independently. This issue becomes more pressing given the substantial global population of visually impaired individuals, particularly in Muslim-majority countries such as Indonesia. Unfortunately, existing Qibla direction technologies are often inadequate in meeting their needs in terms of accessibility and practicality. To address this problem, an innovative device is needed to provide accurate and easily accessible Qibla direction information for visually impaired individuals. A Qibla direction indicator with audio output is proposed as a relevant solution. This device is designed to deliver Qibla direction information through voice instructions, enabling visually impaired individuals to receive the information effortlessly without external assistance. The device was developed by integrating the HMC5883L digital compass sensor with an Arduino Nano. It also includes features such as USB Type-C and wireless charging capabilities, along with braille text on the casing to enhance accessibility. Testing demonstrated an average absolute error of 1.625 degrees and a system efficiency of 99.546%. With these advantages, this device is expected to serve as a practical solution that not only addresses the needs of visually impaired individuals but also contributes to technological inclusivity in religious practices, disability support, and the reduction of social inequalities. Keywords: Qibla Direction, Blind Individual, Audio Output, Arduino, Compass Sensor Penunjuk arah kiblat adalah kebutuhan penting bagi umat Muslim dalam menjalankan ibadah, namun tunanetra menghadapi kendala signifikan dalam menentukan arah tersebut secara mandiri. Permasalahan ini semakin nyata mengingat jumlah populasi tunanetra yang cukup besar di dunia, termasuk di negara-negara dengan mayoritas Muslim seperti Indonesia. Sayangnya, teknologi penunjuk arah yang ada saat ini kurang ramah terhadap kebutuhan mereka, baik dari sisi aksesibilitas maupun kepraktisan. Untuk menjawab permasalahan tersebut, diperlukan sebuah alat inovatif yang dapat memberikan informasi arah kiblat secara akurat dan mudah diakses oleh tunanetra. Penunjuk arah kiblat dengan luaran suara menjadi usulan solusi yang relevan. Alat ini dirancang untuk memberikan informasi arah kiblat melalui instruksi suara, sehingga tunanetra dapat dengan mudah menerima informasi tersebut tanpa memerlukan bantuan orang lain. Alat ini dikembangkan dengan mengintegrasikan sensor kompas HMC5883L dan Arduino Nano. Alat ini juga dilengkapi fitur pengisian daya melalui USB Type-C dan wireless charging, serta teks braille pada casing untuk meningkatkan aksesibilitas. Uji coba menunjukkan rata-rata error absolut sebesar 1,625 derajat dan efisiensi sistem mencapai 99,546%. Dengan keunggulan tersebut, alat ini diharapkan dapat menjadi solusi praktis yang tidak hanya mendukung kebutuhan tunanetra tetapi juga berkontribusi pada inklusivitas teknologi di bidang keagamaan, disabilitas dan pengurangan kesenjangan sosial.
