Abstract
Penggunaan teknologi yang tidak terkontrol pada anak prasekolah sering kali memberikan dampak negatif, seperti kecanduan media sosial yang dapat menghambat perkembangan kognitif, terutama fungsi Pre Frontal Cortex (PFC). Di sisi lain, teknologi modern menawarkan peluang untuk mendukung perkembangan literasi anak. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk merancang dan mengembangkan aplikasi berbasis android yang memanfaatkan teknologi Optical Character Recognition (OCR) dan Text-to-Speech (TTS) untuk mendukung pembelajaran baca tulis pada anak prasekolah. Aplikasi dirancang agar dapat diakses secara offline guna mengurangi ketergantungan pada koneksi internet dan menciptakan lingkungan belajar yang sehat. Penelitian menggunakan metode Research and Development (R&D) dengan pendekatan model pengembangan perangkat lunak Waterfall, yang mencakup tahapan analisis kebutuhan, desain, implementasi, dan pengujian. Aplikasi dikembangkan menggunakan framework Flutter dan teknologi Google ML Kit untuk OCR serta TTS. Pengujian dilakukan pada 10 gambar tulisan tangan yang memuat suku kata. Hasil menunjukkan akurasi ekstraksi teks sebesar 90%, meskipun terdapat beberapa ketidaksesuaian akibat variasi bentuk huruf atau adanya elemen tambahan pada teks dalam gambar. The uncontrolled use of technology among preschool children often leads to negative effects, such as social media addiction, which can hinder cognitive development, particularly the functions of the Prefrontal Cortex (PFC). On the other hand, modern technology provides opportunities to support children's literacy development. This study aims to design and develop an Android-based application leveraging Optical Character Recognition (OCR) and Text-to-Speech (TTS) technologies to support reading and writing skills in preschool children. The application is designed for offline access to reduce dependence on internet connectivity and create a healthy learning environment. The research adopts the Research and Development (R&D) method with a software development approach using the Waterfall model, encompassing the stages of needs analysis, design, implementation, and testing. The application was developed using the Flutter framework and integrated with Google ML Kit for OCR and TTS functionalities. Testing was conducted on 10 images of handwritten syllables. The results demonstrated a text extraction accuracy of 90%, although some mismatches occurred due to variations in handwriting styles or the presence of additional elements in the images
