Abstract
Tujuan dari kajian ini untuk mengetahui hubungan antara intensitas penggunaan media sosial Instagram dengan Fear of Missing Out pada dewasa awal di Jabodetabek. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan metode penelitian korelasional dan bantuan kuesioner Google Form sebagai alat untuk mengumpulkan data. Sampel penelitian melibatkan 223 responden dewasa awal berusia 18-40 tahun pengguna Instagram. Pengambilan sampel dilakukan menggunakan teknik non-probability sampling dengan metode accidental sampling, di mana sampel dipilih secara acak dan pengambilan sampel secara kebetulan cocok dengan kriteria. Alat ukur yang digunakan Social Networking Time Use Scale untuk mengukur intensitas penggunaan media sosial Instagram sedangkan alat ukur Feeling of Missing Out (FoMO) untuk mengukur tingkat FoMO. Analisis data yang dilakukan menggunakan uji statistik non-parametrik Spearman Rho, karena data tidak berdistribusi normal. Hasil analisis menunjukkan adanya hubungan positif yang signifikan antara intensitas penggunaan media sosial Instagram dengan Fear of Missing Out (r = 0.714). Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa semakin tinggi intensitas penggunaan media sosial Instagram, semakin tinggi pula tingkat FoMO pada dewasa awal. Analisis lebih lanjut menunjukkan pada dimensi Academic-Related Periods pada intensitas penggunaan media sosial Instagram memiliki hubungan paling kuat dengan FoMO sedangkan dimensi FoMO yang memiliki hubungan kuat dengan intensitas penggunaan media sosial Instagram adalah Faktor Sosial. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah bahwa intensitas penggunaan media sosial Instagram berperan signifikan dalam meningkatkan tingkat Fear of Missing Out (FoMO) pada dewasa awal. Diharapkan penelitian ini dapat memberikan wawasan bagi pengguna media sosial agar lebih bijak dalam mengatur intensitas penggunaan Instagram guna mengurangi dampak psikologis seperti FoMO. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between the intensity of Instagram social media use and Fear of Missing Out in early adulthood in Jabodetabek. This study used a quantitative approach with a correlational research method and the help of a Google Form questionnaire as a tool to collect data. The study sample involved 223 early adult respondents aged 18-40 years who were Instagram users. Sampling was carried out using a non-probability sampling technique with an accidental sampling method, where the sample was selected randomly and the sampling coincidentally matched the criteria. The measuring instrument used was the Social Networking Time Use Scale to measure the intensity of Instagram social media use while the Feeling of Missing Out (FoMO) measuring instrument to measure the level of FoMO. Data analysis was carried out using the Spearman Rho non-parametric statistical test, because the data was not normally distributed. The results of the analysis showed a significant positive relationship between the intensity of Instagram social media use and Fear of Missing Out (r = 0.714). This shows that the higher the intensity of Instagram social media use, the higher the level of FoMO in early adulthood. Further analysis shows that the Academic Related Periods dimension on the intensity of Instagram social media use has the strongest relationship with FoMO while the FoMO dimension that has a strong relationship with the intensity of Instagram social media use is the Social Factor. The conclusion of this study is that the intensity of Instagram social media use plays a significant role in increasing the level of Fear of Missing Out (FoMO) in early adulthood. It is hoped that this study can provide insight for social media users to be wiser in managing the intensity of Instagram use in order to reduce psychological impacts such as FoMO.
