Abstract
In the tire manufacturing process, several stages are involved, including mixing, material process, building process, curing tire process, and final inspection. Each stage has its own process characteristics, and each one significantly affects the final quality of the tire. One of these stages is the curing process. The curing process is the final step in tire production, where the green tire, the product from the building machine, is heated at specific temperatures and pressures to cure it in a mold. In PT Gajah Tunggal Tbk., most of the curing machines are old, including the Kobelco machine type, which uses an automatic system controlled by a PLC (Programmable Logic Control) and HMI (Human machine interface). However, there are no PLC and HMI program facilities that make it easier for engineer to organize data or programs with the aim of overcoming Sidewall deformation defects that occur due to shaping problems during the unloading process on the curing machine.. This research aims to modify the PLC and HMI programs. The results of the testing were successful because the shaping problem was effectively resolved through the modifications made. By determining the timer values for Top ring up at 50ms and Lowering down at 80ms, the shaping problem was resolved, and no sidewall deformation defects were found in the tire. Kata Kunci: Tire,Curing, Defect, PLC, Sidewall deformation, Modification Dalam proses pembuatan ban melewati beberapa tahapan antara lain mixing, material process, building process, curing tire process dan final inspection. Setiap tahapan proses tersebut mempunyai karakteristik proses yang berbeda-beda dan setiap proses sangat berpengaruh terhadap kualitas akhir suatu ban mobil. Salah satunya adalah proses curing. Proses curing merupakan proses terakhir dari pembuatan ban, dimana green tire, produk keluaran dari mesin building akan di panaskan dengan suhu dan tekanan tertentu untuk dimasak pada suatu cetakan yang disebut mold. Untuk mesin-mesin curing di PT Gajah Tunggal Tbk., sebagian besar mesin curing merupakan mesin lama salah satunya mesin tipe kobelco yang menggunakan sistem otomatis dengan menggunakan PLC (Programmable logic control) dan HMI (Human machine interface). Akan tetapi, tidak tersedia fasilitas program PLC dan HMI yang memudahkan engineer untuk mengatur data atau program dengan tujuan mengatasi Sidewall deformation defect yang terjadi akibat problem shaping pada saat proses unloading pada mesin curing. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memodifikasi program PLC dan HMI. Hasil dari pengujian dinyatakan berhasil karena masalah shaping dapat diatasi dengan baik melalui modifikasi yang telah dilakukan. Dengan menentukan nilai timer untuk yaitu 50ms dan Lowering down yaitu 80ms, masalah shaping dapat diatasi dengan baik dan juga dengan hasil tidak terdapat Sidewall deformation defect pada ban.
