Abstract
Aircraft maintenance is an activity that requires efficiency and security in the management and storage of equipment (tools). Having problems in monitoring the use of tools can cause tools become lost, resulting in Foreign Object Debris (FOD) and endangering flight safety. This study aims to design and develop a prototype of a tool borrowing detector and smart lock based on the Internet of Things (IoT) to improve tool management in aircraft maintenance drawer. The designed prototype integrates Raspberry Pi 4 with RFID and barcode technology to record borrowing information in real-time via the website. The maintenance drawer is equipped with a smart lock consisting of a relay and solenoid lock, which can only be accessed by registered personnel using an RFID access card. The system was tested to evaluate the accuracy of communication between the hardware, software, and database. The test results showed that the prototype can function systematically, starting from opening the smart lock with an access card, recording the tool borrowing and returning logs, to sending delay notifications via email. The RFID reader detects access cards with an average response time of 0.157–0.187 seconds, while the barcode scanner shows 100% accuracy with a response time of 3.54–3.94 seconds. This system can send data to GUI and website with an average time of 0.153–0.159 seconds and 5.181–5.187 seconds respectively, and generate notification after 24 hours of delay in returning the tools. Maintenance pesawat merupakan kegiatan yang memerlukan efisiensi dan keamanan dalam pengelolaan serta penyimpanan peralatan (tools). Kendala dalam memantau penggunaan tools dapat menyebabkan kehilangan yang berisiko menimbulkan Foreign Object Debris (FOD) dan membahayakan keselamatan penerbangan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk merancang dan mengembangkan prototype alat pendeteksi peminjaman tools dan smart lock berbasis Internet of Things (IoT) untuk meningkatkan manajemen tools pada drawer maintenance pesawat. Prototype yang dirancang mengintegrasikan Raspberry Pi 4 dengan teknologi RFID (Radio-Frequency Identification) dan barcode untuk mencatat informasi peminjaman secara real-time melalui website. Drawer maintenance dilengkapi dengan smart lock yang terdiri dari relay dan solenoid lock, yang hanya dapat diakses oleh personel terdaftar menggunakan kartu akses RFID. Sistem diuji untuk mengevaluasi akurasi komunikasi antara perangkat keras, perangkat lunak, dan database. Hasil pengujian menunjukkan bahwa prototype dapat berfungsi secara sistematis, mulai dari pembukaan smart lock dengan kartu akses, pencatatan log peminjaman dan pengembalian tools, hingga pengiriman notifikasi keterlambatan melalui email. RFID reader mendeteksi kartu akses dengan rata-rata waktu respon 0,157–0,187 detik, sementara barcode scanner menunjukkan akurasi 100% dengan waktu respon 3,54–3,94 detik. Sistem ini dapat mengirim data ke GUI dan website dengan waktu rata-rata masing-masing 0,153–0,159 detik dan 5,181–5,187 detik, serta menghasilkan notifikasi setelah 24 jam keterlambatan pengembalian tools.
