Abstract
This research aims to determine the influence of the Openness personality trait on the creativity of Mercu Buana University students. A total of 336 respondents were involved in this study, selected based on the criteria of active regular students in the class of 2023, aged between 18-22 years. For sample selection, the researcher used probability sampling with the cluster random sampling method. The measuring instruments in this study consisted of two scales. The openness to experience scale was a measure of openness to experience developed by Costa & McCrae (1992), which had been previously used in research by Annelis Keyvi (2021). It consisted of 31 items with a Cronbach Alpha reliability value of 0.941. The creativity scale was based on Guilford's concept and adapted from a questionnaire developed by Munasor (2012), and had previously been used in research by Yohana Purwa Citraningtyas (2015). It consisted of 28 items with a Cronbach Alpha reliability value of 0.816. The results of the hypothesis test using simple linear regression analysis showed that there was an influence of the Openness personality trait on the creativity of Mercu Buana University students, accounting for 22.6%, while 77.4% was influenced by other factors. Based on the research results, it can be concluded that the Openness personality variable can influence creativity, but it only has a small impact compared to other variables. Keywords: opennes to experience, creativity, student Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh kepribadian Opennes Terhadap kreativitas Mahasiswa Universitas Mercu Buana. Jumlah sample pada penelitian ini melibatkan 336 responden yang diambil berdasarkan kriteria mahasiswa aktif regular 1 angkatan 2023 dengan rentang usia 18-22 tahun. Untuk pengambilan sample, peneliti menggunakan teknik probability sampling dengan metode cluster random sampling. Alat ukur dalam penelitian ini terdiri dari dua skala. Skala openness to experience adalah alat ukur openness to experience dari Costa & McCrae (1992) yang sudah digunakan sebelumnya dalam penelitian Annelis Keyvi (2021) yang terdiri dari 31 item dengan nilai reabilitas Cronbach Alpha 0.941 dan skala kreativitas alat ukur ini mengacu pada konsep Guilford yang diadaptasi dari kuisioner yang dikembangkan oleh Munasor (2012) serta sebelumnya sudah digunakan dalam penelitian Yohana Purwa Citraningtyas (2015) yang terdiri dari 28 item dengan nilai reabilitas Cronbach Alpha 0.816. Hasil uji hipotesis menggunakan analisis regresi linear sederhana dan menunjukkan bahwa terdapat pengaruh Kepribadian Opennes 22,6% terhadap Kreativitas Mahasiswa Universitas Mercu Buana sementara 77,4% dipengaruhi oleh faktor lain. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa variabel Kepribadian Opennes dapat mempengaruhi kreativitas namun hanya memberikan pengaruh yang kecil dibandingkan variabel lainnya.
