Abstract
Fire pumps play a vital role in extinguishing fires in emergency situations, hence routine testing is necessary to determine pump reliability. During the annual emergency electric fire pump test at the Polypropylene (PP) Plant PT Chandra Asri Pacific, a decrease in efficiency and pressure on the discharge side of the emergency electric fire pump G-8801A was found, thus an overhaul was conducted to improve pump efficiency. This study aims to determine the changes in discharge pressure and pump efficiency values with varying flow rates before and after the overhaul activity. The direct test method on the pump was carried out using treatments of valve openings at 50%, 75%, and 100%. The pressure values of the electric fire pump with valve openings at 50%, 75%, and 100% were 10.1 kg/cm², 9.3 kg/cm², and 7.7 kg/cm² before the overhaul, while the pressures after the overhaul were 12.1 kg/cm², 10.8 kg/cm², and 9 kg/cm². Before the overhaul, the efficiency values of the electric fire pump with valve openings at 50%, 75%, and 100% were 61.3%, 63.3%, and 58.7%. Meanwhile, after the overhaul with the same valve openings, the efficiency values were 74.3%, 74.6%, and 68.2%. The pressure value increased by 19.8%, while the pump efficiency increased by 17.8% after an overhaul of the pump, which included replacing the bearings and adding coating to the inner part of the pump casing. Pompa pemadam kebakaran memegang peranan vital dalam memadamkan api dalam keadaan darurat sehingga perlu dilakukan pengetesan rutin untuk mengetahui keandalan pompa. Pada pengujian emergency electric fire pump tahunan di Polypropylene (PP) Plant PT Chandra Asri Pacific ditemukan adanya penurunan efisiensi dan tekanan pada sisi discharge dari emergency electric fire pump G-8801A sehingga dilakukan overhaul untuk meningkatkan efisiensi pompa. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui perubahan tekanan discharge dan nilai efisiensi pompa dengan variasi debit sebelum dan setelah dilakukan aktifitas overhaul. Metode pengujian langsung pada pompa dilakukan dengan menggunakan perlakuan variasi bukaan katup 50%, 75% dan 100%. Nilai tekanan electric fire pump dengan bukaan katup 50%, 75% dan 100% adalah 10,1 kg/cm2 , 9,3 kg/cm2 dan 7,7 kg/cm2 sebelum dilakukan overhaul, sedangkan tekanan setelah overhaul adalah 12,1 kg/cm2 , 10,8 kg/cm2 dan 9 kg/cm2 . Sebelum overhaul, nilai efisiensi electric fire pump dengan bukaan katup 50%, 75% dan 100% adalah 61,3%, 63,3% dan 58,7%. Sementara pada kondisi setelah overhaul dengan bukaan katup yang sama, nilai efisiensinya adalah 74,3%, 74,6% dan 68,2%. Nilai tekanan mengalami kenaikan sebesar 19,8%, sementara efisiensi pompa mengalami kenaikan sebesar 17,8% setelah dilakukan overhaul pada pompa berupa penggantian bearing dan penambahan coating pada bagian dalam casing pompa.
