Abstract

A lot of visual entertainment that makes decreased the interest to reading books in this era, it needs special attention. Book as a media need to take this advantage of the visual role to re-grow interest in reading by presenting illustrations in it. The function of illustrations in a book is to appeal the reader's eyes, making the reader feel good to follow the storyline, and the reader can be remember much better the content of the book. One of the books that successfully used illustrations is "Yuk Berhijab" by Felix Siauw. By presenting interesting illustrations coupled with illustrative supporting elements, this book can pack the books of religious science that are generally heavy, have thousands of pages and only certain circles who read into a light but solid reading of the science that be delivered. Banyaknya hiburan visual yang membuat turunnya minat baca buku di masyarakat perlu mendapat perhatian khusus. Media buku perlu memanfaatkan peran visual tersebut untuk kembali menumbuhkan minat baca dengan menghadirkan ilustrasi di dalamnya. Ilustrasi yang hadir dalam suatu buku berfungsi untuk menarik perhatian mata pembaca, membuat pembaca betah mengikuti alur cerita, dan pembaca pun dapat mengingat jauh lebih baik isi dari buku tersebut. Salah satu buku yang berhasil menggunakan ilustrasi dalam bentuk cetak adalah buku “Yuk Berhijab” Karya Felix Siauw. Dengan menghadirkan ilustrasi yang cukup menarik perhatian ditambah dengan elemen-elemen pendukung ilustrasi, maka buku ini dapat dengan baik mengemas buku-buku ilmu agama yang umumnya berat, memiliki ribuan halaman dan hanya kalangan tertentu saja yang membaca menjadi bacaan yang ringan namun padat akan ilmu yang disampaikan.
