Abstract

Microlibrary is a part of SHAU research as a building design institution. With a mission to make 100 Microlibrary scattered throughout Indonesia. As one of the efforts to increase the reading interest of the Indonesian people. Microlibrary is a program that collaborates with various stakeholders from government, the private sector, and the community. This research was conducted with the aim to find out whether the Taman Bima Bandung Microlibrary is in accordance with the main function of reading place for the community. This study uses descriptive qualitative method by observing the location, searching for existing data, conducting the interview process, and using the place-centered mapping method to find out how humans or groups of people use, use or accommodate their behavior in a situation certain time and place. Based on the results of the research conducted it can be concluded that the library space has not yet dominated from other rooms. Microlibrary merupakan bagian dari riset SHAU selaku institusi perancang bangunan. Dengan misi membuat 100 Microlibrary yang tersebar di seruluh Indonesia. Sebagai salah satu upaya dalam meningkatkan minat baca masyarakat Indonesia. Microlibrary merupakan suatu program yang berkolaborasi dengan berbagai stake holder baik dari pemerintahan, pihak swasta, maupun komunitas. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan tujuan untuk mengetahui apakah Microlibrary Taman Bima bandung sudah sesuai dengan fungsi utama yaitu tempat membaca bagi masyarakat. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif deskrptif dengan melakukan obeservasi terhadap lokasi, mencari data yang sudah ada, melakukan proses wawancara, dan menggunakan metode place-centered mapping (pemetaan berdasarkan tempat) untuk mengetahui bagaimana manusia atau sekelompok manusia memanfaatkan, menggunakan atau mengakomodasikan perilakunya dalam suatu situasi waktu dan tempat tertentu. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian yang dilakukan dapat disimpulkan bahwa ruang perpustakaan belum mendominasi dari ruangan lainnya.
