Abstract
The Candra Naya building is able to survive until now because of its new function as a rental building in the form of restaurants and as a meeting building. This change in function affects the spatial structure and meaning in it. The author will look for whether the effect of these changes on the spaces in them as well as the meaning contained in them. Previous research on the Candra Naya Building focused more on the revitalization process carried out in 2003. Research on the effect of functional changes on the meaning of the Candra Naya Building has never been done. In this study the author uses qualitative methods to study literature, then observations and interviews on the object of research. The results of this study conclude that the change in function in the Candra Naya Building does not change the order and pattern of the space in it. While the meaning of the spaces in the Candra Naya Building has not been maintained. However, there is an element that is maintained, namely the worship room, although its location is not a priority so it is moved Gedung Candra Naya mampu bertahan sampai sekarang karena fungsi barunya sebagai bangunan sewa berupa restoran dan sebagai gedung pertemuan. Perubahan fungsi tersebut mempengaruhi tata ruang serta makna didalamnya. Penulis akan mencari apakah pengaruh perubahan tersebut terhadap ruang-ruang didalamnya serta makna yang terkandung di dalamnya. Penelitian sebelumnya pada Gedung Candra Naya lebih fokus pada proses revitalisasi yang dilaksanakan tahun 2003. Penelitian tentang pengaruh perubahan fungsi terhadap makna ruang Gedung Candra Naya belum pernah dilakukan. Dalam penelitian ini penulis menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan melakukan studi literatur, kemudian observasi serta melakukan wawancara pada objek penelitian. Hasil penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa perubahan fungsi pada Gedung Candra Naya tidak merubah tatanan dan pola ruang didalamnya. Sedangkan makna ruang-ruang pada Gedung Candra Naya sudah tidak dipertahankan. Namun terdapat elemen yang dipertahankan yaitu ruang ibadah, walaupun letaknya tidak menjadi prioritas sehingga dipindahkan
