Abstract
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat hubungan antara self-regulation dengan problematic internet use pada mahasiswa. Problematic internet use adalah konsep multidimensional yang merujuk pada keterikatan yang tidak sehat terhadap teknologi berbasis internet (Caplan, 2007). Sedangkan self-regulation merupakan kapasitas individu untuk merencanakan, mengarahkan dan memantau perilakunya sendiri secara adaptif sebagai respons terhadap perubahan keadaan dalam mencapai tujuan (Pichardo et al., 2014). Sampel dalam penelitian ini berjumlah 150 mahasiswa di Jabodetabek dengan usia 18-25 tahun. Pengambilan sampel dilakukan menggunakan teknik Non-probability Sampling dengan kuesioner. Metode analisis yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah kuantitatif korelasional. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa tingkat self-regulation memiliki hubungan yang cukup negatif dengan problematic internet use, dengan koefisien korelasi sebesar −0,560 dan tingkat signifikansi sebesar 0,00 This study aims to understand the relationship between self-regulation and problematic internet use in university students. Problematic internet use is a multidimensional concept that refers to an unhealthy attachment to internet-based technology (Caplan, 2007). Whereas self-regulation involves the capacity of individuals to plan, direct and monitor their own behaviour adaptively in response to changing circumstances in achieving goals (Pichardo et al., 2014). The samples consisted of 150 university students in Jabodetabek who were 18-25 years old. Sampling was carried out using the Non-probability Sampling technique with a questionnaire. The analysis method used in this research is quantitative correlation. The results of the study revealed that the level of self-regulation had a moderately negative relation with problematic internet use, which had a correlation coefficient of −0.560 and a significance level of 0.00.
