Abstract
Social activities that occur against citizens are one of the important factors for social sustainability, one of which is interacting with neighbors. The communal space in the village is planned and unplanned. have their own role from the planned and unplanned communal space based on the activities and daily life of the community. Communal spaces that have high usage intensity, in maintaining their existence are influenced by how users use these spaces as communal spaces. Communal space needs arise based on an awareness that social interaction is part of daily needs. In this qualitative research want to know the pattern of the use of communal space in Kamal Muara penjaringan north jakarta. Research using (Behavioral Mapping) shows the function of unplanned spaces as communal spaces such as the shoulder of the front porch and a small alley. This shows that communal space is created based on the cognitive conditions of the inhabitants before they live in the estuary of Kamal Muara.
