Abstract

As times progress, companies are required to maintain their market share, one of which is by maintaining and improving product quality. A car body company in Tangerang that produces Dump Truck Body is also required to carry out quality control in order to be able to compete amidst the large number of car body industries. In the process of making this product, there were obstacles, namely the discovery of welding defects by the Welding Inspector. The discovery of this welding defect occurred in the main product, namely the Dump Truck Body. In the six month production period, it is known that there are several types of defects that are most commonly found, namely porosity, undercuts, spatter, cracks and slag inclusions. The company provides a maximum limit for welding defects of 0.3%. By using Pareto, it is known that the highest number of welding defects is porosity of 0.75%. Of the largest known defects, this research focuses on identifying and providing recommendations for improvement. The methods used in this research are Six Sigma and DMAIC. From the use of the Six Sigma and DMAIC methods, plans or proposals for improvement can be identified. Proposed improvements are implemented according to manufacturing and implementation standards. From these improvements, the result was a reduction in porosity defects and was also followed by an increase in the sigma value from 4.18 sigma to 4.48 sigma. Keywords: Quality Control, Six Sigma, DMAIC, FMEA Semakin berkembangnya zaman, perusahaan dituntut untuk mempertahankan pangsa pasarnya, salah satunya adalah dengan mempertahankan dan meningkatkan kualitas produk. Sebuah perusahaan karoseri di Tangerang yang memproduksi Body Dump Truck juga dituntut untuk melakukan pengendalian kualitas tersebut untuk dapat bersaing ditengah banyaknya industri karoseri. Dalam proses pembuatan produk tersebut, terdapat hambatan yaitu temuan-temuan defect pengelasan oleh Welding Inspector. Temuan defect pengelasan ini terjadi pada produk utamanya yaitu Body Dump Truck. Pada periode enam bulan produksi diketahui terdapat beberapa jenis defect yang paling umum menjadi temuan, yaitu porosity, undercut, spatter, crack dan slag inclusion. Perusahaan memberikan batas maksimal defect pengelasan adalah sebesar 0,3%. Dengan menggunakan pareto,diketahui jumlah tertinggi defect pengelasan yaitu porosity sebesar 0,75%. Dari defect terbesar yang diketahui, pada penelitian ini difokuskan dalam mengidentifikasi dan memberikan usulan perbaikannya. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah Six Sigma dan DMAIC. Dari penggunaan metode Six Sigma dan DMAIC tersebut dapat diketahui rencana atau usulan perbaikan. Usulan perbaikan diterapkan dengan pembuatan dan penerapan standar. Dari perbaikan tersebut didapatkan hasil penurunan defect porosity dan juga diikuti oleh meningkatnya nilai sigma dari 4.18 sigma menjadi 4.48 sigma.
