Abstract
Public spaces must be responsive, democratic, and meaningful. Green space that is responsive to its meaning must be able to be used for various activities and wide interests. Democratic in question is green open space that should be able to be utilized by the general public without being fragmented due to social, economic, and cultural differences. In fact, the democratic element is attached as one of the character of public space because it must be accessible for people with various physical conditions, including people with disabilities and the elderly. (Stephen Carr (1992) in his Public Space Caatleya Park has many functions , one of the functions as a center of interaction and communication between activities from one place to the area.In this study the need for comparison with a good park with a standard, useful to find out the comfort level and phenomenon of diverse users, to be a guide to design a good Garden. The research method used in this research is descriptive qualitative method, describe the observation result (observations made in the form of, and direct observation in the field) with the perception of visitors to get a picture of physical comfort and non physical. The results showed that the phenomenon in Taman Cattleya partially meets the existing government standards but some things must also be in the improvement. Ruang publik harus bersifat responsif,demokratis, dan bermakna. Ruang terbuka hijau yang responsif artinya harus dapat digunakan untuk berbagai kegiatan dan kepentingan luas.Secara demokratis yang dimaksud adalah ruang terbuka hijau itu seharusnya dapat dimanfaatkan masyarakat umum tanpa harus terkotak-kotakkan akibat perbedaan sosial, ekonomi,dan budaya. Bahkan, unsur demokratis dilekatkan sebagai salah satu watak ruang publik karena ia harus dapat dijangkau (aksesibel) bagi warga dengan berbagai kondisi fisiknya, termasuk para penderita cacat tubuh maupun lansia.(Stephen Carr(1992).Taman Caatleya memiliki banyak fungsi, salah satu fungsi sebagai pusat interaksi dan komunikasi antar kegiatan dari satu tempat dengan area sekitar. Pada penelitian ini perlunya perbandingan dengan Taman yang baik dengan standar,berguna mencari tahu tingkat kenyamanan dan Fenomena para pengguna yang beragam, untuk dijadikan pedoman merancang Taman yang baik. Metode penelitian yang di gunakan pada penelitian ini adalah metode deskriptif kualitatif, mendeskripsikan hasil pengamatan (pengamatan yang dilakukan berupa, dan observasi langsung di lapangan) dengan persepsi pengunjung untuk mendapatkan gambaran kenyaman secara fisik maupun non fisik. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa fenomena di Taman Cattleya sebagian memenuhi standar pemerintah yang ada namun beberapa hal juga harus ada yang di perbaik.
