Abstract

This final project discusses the design and implementation of a solar-powered medical bag aimed at providing a portable cooling solution for medical applications. The medical bag utilizes solar panels as the primary energy source to charge a battery and operate a cooling system based on capillary tubes, a pump, and a fan. The research process begins with a literature review of key components, followed by system design including flowcharts, block diagrams, and system flowcharts. Hardware and software implementation is carried out using an ESP32 microcontroller to control temperature and monitor the system in real-time through the Blynk application. Testing was conducted to evaluate the performance of the solar panels, cooling system, and battery charging efficiency. The results show that an 18-watt solar panel can produce around 0.9474 amperes of current under optimal conditions, but it is insufficient to fully meet the power needs of the cooling system and battery charging simultaneously, resulting in an effective charging current of -0.2040 amperes. The cooling system effectively reduced the internal temperature of the medical bag from 30°C to 3°C within 2 hours and maintained a stable temperature around 3°C. The Blynk application is used to monitor temperature and system status in real-time through a mobile device, providing additional control and necessary notifications. In conclusion, while the cooling system performs well in maintaining the desired temperature, battery charging cannot be fully met by the solar panel. Recommendations for future research include optimizing energy systems and solar panel efficiency to ensure more stable performance in similar applications. Keywords: medical bag, solar panel, battery, capillary tubes, pump, fan, ESP32, microcontroller, Blynk, flowchart, block diagram, system flowchart.
