Abstract
Industrial boilers are essential devices that provide steam for various production processes. Boiler operational efficiency and safety greatly affect productivity as well as worker safety, given the possible risks such as burns, electric shock, and explosion. This research aims to build a safe and reliable automatic control system for boiler operations, improve operational efficiency by reducing excess fuel usage, and develop a system that can adapt to various operational conditions. The methodology used in this research is a PID (Proportional-Integral-Derivative) and electro magnetic relay-based control system development approach. The research process involved the design of the control system, fabrication of the control panel, installation of sensors and actuators, and calibration of operating parameters. The system was tested under various operational conditions to ensure optimal performance. The use of PID control allows more precise regulation of the fuel and water flow rates, so that the steam pressure and water level can be maintained in accordance with the desired set points. The results showed that the developed control system was able to improve boiler efficiency. This system can increase the boiler efficiency by 87.50% from the previous 84.33%. In conclusion, the PID-based boiler control system and electro magnetic relay successfully improve the efficiency and operational safety of the boiler. The implementation of this system can provide great benefits to industries that depend on boiler operations, by reducing the risk of accidents, and increasing fuel efficiency. Flowchart, Boiler System Testing Boiler industri merupakan perangkat penting yang menyediakan uap untuk berbagai proses produksi. Efisiensi dan keamanan operasional boiler sangat mempengaruhi produktivitas serta keselamatan pekerja, mengingat risiko yang mungkin terjadi seperti luka bakar, sengatan listrik, dan ledakan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk membangun sistem kontrol otomatis yang aman dan andal untuk operasi boiler, meningkatkan efisiensi operasional dengan mengurangi penggunaan bahan bakar berlebih, serta mengembangkan sistem yang dapat beradaptasi dengan berbagai kondisi operasional. Metodologi yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah pendekatan pengembangan sistem kontrol berbasis PID (Proportional-Integral-Derivative) dan relay elektro magnetik. Proses penelitian melibatkan desain sistem kontrol, pembuatan panel kontrol, pemasangan sensor dan aktuator, serta kalibrasi parameter operasi. Sistem diuji dalam berbagai kondisi operasional untuk memastikan kinerja yang optimal. Penggunaan kontrol PID memungkinkan pengaturan yang lebih tepat terhadap laju alir bahan bakar dan air, sehingga tekanan uap dan ketinggian air dapat dipertahankan sesuai dengan set point yang diinginkan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa sistem kontrol yang dikembangkan mampu meningkatkan efisiensi boiler. Sistem ini dapat meningkatkan efisiensi boiler sebesar 87.50% dari sebelumnya yang hanya 84.33% . Kesimpulannya, sistem kontrol boiler berbasis PID dan relay elektro magnetik berhasil meningkatkan efisiensi dan keamanan operasional boiler. Implementasi sistem ini dapat memberikan manfaat besar bagi industri yang bergantung pada operasi boiler, dengan mengurangi risiko kecelakaan,dan meningkatkan efisiensi bahan bakar.
