Abstract

The treatment undergone by breast cancer patients gives rise to negative affection which can reduce the patients hope of recovery or survival. One of the factor that influences the emergence of hope is gratitude, indicating that to increase hope, gratitude is needed which can be generated through gratitude training. Therefore, the aim of this research is to find out whether gratitude training is effective in increasing life expectancy in patients with breast cancer and to determine the differences in the level of life expectancy for patients with breast cancer in the experimental and control groups. The approach used is a quantitative quasiexperimental method, Non-equivalent Control Group Pretest-Posttest Design. This research was conducted on 16 patients with breast cancer who were undergoing outpatient treatment at the hospital (KE = 7 and KK = 9). The measuring tool used is the HHI scale and uses the gratitude training module from Bahar (2020). The training was carried out during two online meetings via ZOOM meeting. This research shows that gratitude training is effective in increasing life expectancy in breast cancer patients and there is a significant difference between the level of life expectancy for breast cancer patients who take part in gratitude training and those who do not take part in the training. Keywords : Gratitude Training, Hope for Life, Breast Cancer Patients Pengobatan yang dijalani oleh pasien penderita kanker payudara memunculkan afeksi negatif yang dapat menurunkan harapan untuk sembuh atau hidup pasien. Salah satu faktor yang memengaruhi munculnya harapan yaitu rasa syukur, menandakan bahwa untuk meningkatkan harapan diperlukan rasa syukur yang dapat dimunculkan melalui pelatihan kebersyukuran. Oleh karena itu, tujuan penelitian ini yaitu untuk mengetahui apakah pelatihan kebersyukuran efektif terhadap peningkatan harapan untuk hidup pada pasien penderita kanker payudara dan mengetahui perbedaan tingkat harapan untuk hidup pasien penderita kanker payudara pada kelompok eksperimen dan kontrol. Pendekatan yang digunakan yaitu kuantitatif metode kuasi eksperimental Non-equivalent Control Group Pretest-Posttest Design. Penelitian ini dilakukan kepada 16 pasien penderita kanker payudara yang sedang menjalani rawat jalan di rumah sakit (KE = 7 dan KK = 9). Alat ukur yang digunakan yaitu skala HHI dan menggunakan modul pelatihan kebersyukuran dari Bahar (2020). Pelatihan dilakukan selama dua pertemuan secara daring (online) melalui ZOOM meeting. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa pelatihan kebersyukuran efektif dalam meningkatkan harapan untuk hidup pada pasien penderita kanker payudara dan terdapat perbedaan yang siginifikan antara tingkat harapan untuk hidup pasien penderita kanker payudara yang mengikuti pelatihan kebersyukuran dengan yang tidak mengikuti pelatihan.
