Abstract

WiFi Network is a Wireless Local Area Network technology which is a network that we always use in this modern era. Because of its flexibility WiFi Networks is being so populare today. We could connect various devices that support wireless connectivity like Dor bell, CCTV, Printer, Smartphone and Personal Computer. To fulfill our needs. But this technology always have the same common problem, the interference on the radio signal. In this research we analyze and creating a system that help us to reduce the interference, specially for WiFi b,g,n which use 2,4 GHz Radio Frequency. So we can get the maximum capability of the WiFi Network. This research using QoS methodology to identify the quality of the WiFi Network. The parameters that being calculated are bandwidth, delay jitter and packet lost. The calculation is separated into three scenario, 1st scenario is to calculate the maximum capability of the access point, 2nd scenario is to know its capability on area that have high interference such as office building, and 3rd scenario is to know its capability after doing some steps to reduce the interference. From the calculation result interference really affecting WiFi 802.11 b but not with the WiFi 802.11g and 802.11n. After some action is take to reduce the interference such as change the working channel and remove some wireless device that operate, and the performance is improve for standar WiFi 802.11.b and 802.11n . Key words: WLAN, 802.11b/g/n, QoS, Interference, Iperf. Jaringan WiFi merupakan teknologi WLAN yang pasti kita gunakan di era modern saat ini. Kita bisa menghubungkan berbagai perangkat yang memiliki interface wireless ke jaringan dengan sangat mudah tanpa harus menggunakan media fisik. Namun dibalik kemudahan tersebut terdapat masalah interference yang selalu kita hadapi. Karena WiFi bekerja dengan menggunakan frekuensi unlicensed untuk ISM (Industrial Scientific Medical). Interference sangat dirasakan terutama pada WiFi yang bekerja dengan frekuensi 2,4 GHz karena frekuensi ini termasuk unlicensed frequency untuk ISM. Dimana semua orang bisa menggunakannya. Dalam penelitian ini penulis akan mengukur QoS dari jaringan WiFi 2,4 GHz tersebut dengan parameter throughput, delay, jitter dan packet loss. Dari hasil pengukuran penurunan performa sangat terasa saat terjadi interference pada WiFi 802.11b namun tidak terlalu berpengaruh tinggi terhadap WiFi 802.11g dan 802.11n. Setelah dilakukan beberapa tindakan untuk mengurangi interference seperti merubah chanel kerja dan mematikan beberapa resource wireless yang beroperasi performa meningkat untuk standar WiFi 802.11b dan 802.11n. Kata kunci: WLAN, 802.11b/g/n, QoS, Interference, Iperf.
