Abstract
Folklor adalah adat-istiadat tradisional dan cerita rakyat yang diwariskan secara turun-temurun, tetapi tidak dibukukan. Folklore dibagi menjadi dua macam yaitu lisan dan bukan lisan. Mitos termasuk kedalam folklor lisan yaitu cerita prosa rakyat, yang dianggap benar-benar terjadi serta dianggap suci oleh yang empunya cerita. Sebagai kepercayaan masyarakat, folklor sering dikaitakan sebagai cara untuk mendapatkan keberuntungan dalam berbagai kegiatan yang masyarakat lakukan seperti berdagang, usaha, hobi, dan kegiatan lain. Dalam kegiatan memancing, folklor pun sering dijadikan kepercayaan oleh masyarakat untuk dapat menentukan banyak atau tidaknya ikan yang didapat. Berdasarkan kepercayaan masyarakat tersebut perancang berpeluang untuk mengembangkan perancangan gagang joran pancing dengan mendekatkan folklor yang ada di dunia memancing ke dalam gagang joran pancing sebagai cara untuk meningkatkan harga jual produk. Perancang membuat produk gagang joran dengan mengaplikasikan ilustrasi mitos – mitos memancing pada bagian gagang joran.Folklore is a traditional custom and folklore passed down from generation to generation, not recorded. Folklore is divided into two types: verbal and non verbal. Myth belongs to the oral folklore that is the story of people's prose, which is really happening and loved by the owner of the story. As a community belief, myths are often linked as a way to gain luck in various activities done such as trade, business, hobbies, and other activities. In fishing activities, folklore is often used as a trust by the community to be able to determine the catch. Based on the community's belief, the designer has the opportunity to develop the design of the fishing rod handle by bringing the folklore in the world into the fishing rod as a way to increase the selling price of the product. The designer makes the rod handle by applying a fishing myth illustration on the rod's handle.
