Abstract

The need for electrical energy will increase over time, with the condition of existing energy sources being considered less commensurate with world demand. Ocean wave energy carries enormous energy which has been known for a long time, therefore it is necessary to search for renewable energy sources where sea waves are one source of renewable energy whose energy can be utilized. In this research, a prototype of a wave energy converter device was designed that is adapted to Indonesia's geographical conditions which have low wind speeds and sea waves. The aim of this research is to verify the performance of a prototype wave energy converter device resulting from a pitching motion using a mass load of 25 kg which has an output of producing electrical energy. The research was carried out with experimental tests at Tanjung Pasir Beach, Tangerang where tests were carried out at various wave heights and wave periods. The performance of the KEG device is assessed from measurable parameters such as output volts, amperes and non-measurable parameters such as the efficiency value of the KEG device. In research using a generator without a planetary gear, we succeeded in turning the highest shaft at 61.2 Rpm, getting the highest voltage of 2.4 Volts and the largest electric current at 0.28 Amperes, and in research using a generator with a planetary gear, we succeeded in turning the highest shaft at 61.2. Rpm gets the largest voltage of 22.1 Volts and the largest electric current of 6.2 Amperes. Keywords: Wave energy conversion device, pitching motion, forced vibration principle, KEG device efficiency Kebutuhan energi listrik seiring jalanya waktu akan semakin meningkat, dengan keadaan sumber energi yang ada dinilai kurang sepadan dengan permintaan kebutuhan dunia. Energi gelombang laut membawa energi yang sangat besar yang telah diketahui sejak lama, oleh karena itu dibutuhkan pencarian sumber energi terbarukan dimana gelombang air laut merupakan salah satu sumber energi terbarukan yang pemanfaatan energinya dapat dimanfaatkan. Dalam penelitian ini dirancang bangun prototipe perangkat konverter energi gelombang yang disesuaikan dengan kondisi geografis Indonesia yang mempunyai kecepatan angin dan gelombang laut rendah. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk melakukan verifikasi kinerja prototipe perangkat Konverter Energi gelombang akibat olah gerak pitching menggunakan beban masa 25 kg yang memiliki output menghasilkan energi listrik. Penelitian dilakukan dengan uji eksperimen di Pantai Tanjung Pasir, Tangerang dimana pengujian dilakukan pada berbagai ketinggian gelombang dan periode gelombang. Kinerja perangkat KEG dinilai dari parameter terukur seperti output volt, amper dan parameter tidak terukur seperti nilai efisiensi perangkat KEG. Dalam penelitian menggunakan generator tanpa planetary Gear berhasil memutarkan poros tertinggi sebesar 61,2 Rpm mendapatkan besaran tegangan terbesar sebanyak 2,4 Volt dan arus listrik terbesar sebanyak 0,28 Ampere dan dalam penelitian menggunakan generator dengan planetary Gear berhasil memutarkan poros tertinggi sebesar 61,2 Rpm mendapatkan besaran tegangan terbesar sebanyak 22,1 Volt dan arus listrik terbesar sebanyak 6,2 Ampere.
