Abstract

As a company providing Alkaline LR03 battery products, PT Intercallin makes battery cans using Pressed Nickel Plated Steel material. In the production process, the problem that often arises is the high defect rate which causes product quality to decrease. It was recorded that in February 2023, 52.121 pcs of the total production output of 560,000 pcs experienced defects of 9.3%, this shows that the maximum allowable defect target of 5% per month was not achieved. By using the six Sigma DMAIC method, the aim of this research is to determine the DPMO level of defects and find suggestions for improvements to minimize defects. This method is a structured problem solving procedure that is widely used in quality and process improvement which consists of 5 phases, namely Define, Measure, Analyze, Control, supported by data taken from interviews and observations. The results of this research were that the DPMO recorded for one month of production was 31.024 (sigma value 3.37), meaning that there were 31.024 defective products per million production. It can be identified that the product quality is still below the standard of the 6 sigma product level. By using a cause-and-effect diagram analysis tool, FMEA, and 5W+1H the factors causing product damage in production can be identified, namely from humans, machines, raw materials and the work environment. For this reason, the aim of this research is to obtain data and results on the main causes of product defects in the production of Alkaline LR03 batteries at PT Intercallin. It is hoped that the results of this research can reduce the defect rate to below 5% per month of production. Keywords: Six Sigma, DMAIC, improvement, Can. Sebagai perusahaan penyedia produk baterai Alkaline LR03, PT Intercallin membuat kaleng/can baterai menggunakan material Nickel Plated Steel yang di Press. Dalam proses produksinya masalah yang sering muncul yaitu tingginya defect rate yang membuat kualitas produk menurun. Tercatat pada bulan Februari 2023 sebanyak 52.121 pcs dari total hasil produksi sebesar 560.000 pcs mengalami defect sebesar 9.3% , hal ini menunjukkan bahwa target maksimal cacat yang diperbolehkan sebesar 5% per bulan tidak tercapai. Dengan menggunakan metode six Sigma DMAIC, tujuan penelitian ini adalah mengetahui DPMO terhadap tingkat cacat dan menemukan usulan perbaikan meminimalisir cacat. Metode ini merupakan prosedur pemecahan masalah terstrukturyang banyak digunakan dalam peningkatan kualitas dan proses yang terdiri dari 5 fase yaitu Define, Measure, Analyze, Control dengan didukung oleh data yang diambil dari wawancara dan observasi. Hasil penelitian ini yaitu tercatat DPMO selama satu bulan produksi 31.024 (nilai sigma 3.37) artinya terdapat 31.024 pcs produk cacat per sejuta produksi. Hal tersebut dapat diidentifikasikan bahwa ternyata kualitas produk masih berada di bawah standar dari tingkat produk 6 sigma. Dengan penggunaan alat analisis diagram sebab-akibat, FMEA dan 5W+1H dapat diketahui faktor penyebab kerusakan produk dalam produksi yaitu berasal dari manusia, mesin, bahan baku dan lingkungan kerja. Untuk itu tujuan penelitian ini dalah untuk mendapatkan data dan hasil penyebab utama cacat produk pada produksi baterai Alkaline LR03 di PT Intercallin.
