Abstract

The development of composite material technology is currently growing rapidly, especially composites with natural fibers or polymer matrices that are used as an alternative to metal materials. This is because composite materials have relatively strong and lightweight properties. Basically, to facilitate the manufacture of composite matrial manually, it needs to be compressed using a compacting press machine so that the fiber and polymer content can be evenly distributed. One of the important components in the compacting machine is punch and dies which have a role in material formation. Therefore, punch and dies components need to be made as needed. In making punches and dies, the assembly and manufacturing process has an important role. The purpose of this research is to design punch and dies with 2 design variations, namely 1 and 2 to find the best design and can make impact test specimens made from composite materials. The design of punches and dies using the Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA) approach method results in the design of dies and punches with 2 design variations and design 2 is chosen as the best design. design 2 consists of 5 parts, with an estimated assembly time of 31.29 seconds and a design efficiency index of 19.17%. The result of the pressure received in design 2 for the compaction process is 122.5 MPa. Keywords : Composite, Press Machine, Design, DFMA Method Perkembangan teknologi material komposit saat ini tengah berkembang pesat, terutama komposit dengan serat alam atau matriks polimer yang dimanfaatkan sebagai alternatif material logam. Hal ini karena material komposit memiliki sifat yang relatif kuat dan ringan. Pada dasarnya untuk memudahkan pembuatan matrial komposit secara manual perlu dikompaksi menggunakan mesin press kompaksi agar kandungan serat dan polimer dapat merata. Salah satu komponen penting pada mesin kompaksi yaitu punch dan dies yang memiliki peran dalam pembentukan material. Maka dari itu, komponen punch dan dies perlu dibuat sesuai dengan kebutuhan. Dalam pembuatan punch dan dies, proses perakitan dan manufaktur memiliki peranan penting. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk merancang punch dan dies deangan 2 variasi desain yaitu 1 dan 2 untuk ditemukan desain terbaik dan dapat membuat spesimen uji impak berbahan material komposit. Perancangan punch dan dies menggunakan metode pendekatan Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA) mendapatkan hasil rancangan dies dan punch dengan 2 variasi desain dan dipilih desain 2 sebagai desain terbaik. desain 2 yang terdiri dari 5 part, dengan estimasi waktu perakitan yaitu 31,29 detik dan indeks efisiensi desain sebesar 19,17%. Hasil besar tekanan yang diterima pada desain 2 untuk proses kompaksi sebesar 122,5 MPa. Kata kunci : Komposit, Mesin Press, Desain, Metode DFMA
