Abstract
This research aims to examine the influence of self-esteem and social comparison on the life satisfaction of students at Mercu Buana University. The research method employed is quantitative, utilizing multiple regression analysis with the assistance of SPSS version 26. The sampling was conducted using accidental sampling technique, resulting in a sample size of 434 respondents. Life satisfaction was measured using the Satisfaction With Life Scale (SWLS) instrument developed by Diener (1985). Self-esteem was measured using the Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale (RSES) instrument by Rosenberg (1965). Social comparison was measured using the Iowa-Netherlands Comparison Orientation Measure (INCOM) proposed by Gibson and Buunk (1999). The research findings demonstrate a significant positive influence of both self-esteem and social comparison on the life satisfaction of Mercu Buana University students. The results indicate a positive and significant influence of self-esteem on life satisfaction by 17.9% (R2 = 0.179, sig = 0.000). However, social comparison does not have a significant impact on life satisfaction (R2 = 0.002, sig 0.325). The combined influence of self-esteem and social comparison on life satisfaction is positive and significant at 18.7% (R2 = 0.187, sig 0.000). Keywords: Life Satisfaction, Self-Esteem, Social Comparison Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji pengaruh harga diri dan perbandingan sosial terhadap kepuasan hidup mahasiswa Universitas Mercu Buana. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah kuantitatif dengan analisis regresi berganda dengan bantuan spss versi 26. Pengambilan sampel dilakukan dengan Teknik accidental sampling dana memperoleh sampel sebanyak 434 responden. Pengukuran kepuasan hidup menggunakan instrument pengukuran satisfaction with life scale (SWLS) dari Diener (1985). Harga diri menggunakan instrumen penelitian Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale (RSES) dari Rosenberg (1965). Perbandingan sosial menggunakan instrumen penelitian Iowa-Netherlands Comparison Orientation Measureproposed (INCOM) dari dikemukakan oleh Gibson and Buunk (1999). Hasil penelitian membuktikan terdapat pengaruh positif yang signifikan antara harga diri dan perbandingan sosial terhadap kepuasan hidup mahasiswa Universitas Mercu Buana. Hasil penelitian membuktikan bahwa terdapat pengaruh positif dan signifikan harga diri terhadap kepuasan hidup sebesar 17.9% (R2 = 0.179, sig = 0.000). Pada perbandingan sosial terhadap kepuasan hidup tidak terdapat pengaruh yang signifikan terhadap kepuasan hidup (R2 = 0.002, sig 0.325). Pada pengaruh harga diri dan perbandingan sosial terhadap kepuasan hidup memiliki pengaruh yang positif dan signifikan terhadap kepuasan hidup sebesar 18.7% (R2 = 0.187, sig 0.000).
