Abstract

Universities are high-level educational institutions that provide education levels to prepare their students into the next professional level. In order to finish this educational level, especially the undergraduate stage, of course students will go through several stages that must be passed; one of them is Final Project. This is a must and should be passed by students in order to obtain a degree according to their respective competencies. This information system was developed with the aim to facilitate students in list several stages towards the Final Project; such as registration for MPTI lectures and registration for proposal seminars. Web-based development will also deliver benefits in the form of efficiency, because student registrants could directly register on a website without any need to be redirected again into external links outside the website itself. Website development is done to utilize CodeIgniter framework with MySQL as database. CodeIgniter has several advantages, including small-size files, complete documentation, easy to learn, as well as compatibility with hosting, and the ease of creating a website which has a lot of interaction with the database. Keyword – Web-based information system, rapid application development (RAD), CodeIgniter, MVC Universitas merupakan lembaga pendidikan tingkat tinggi yang menyelenggarakan jenjang pendidikan untuk mempersiapkan peserta didiknya memasuki jenjang profesional selanjutnya. Untuk menyelesaikan jenjang pendidikan ini, khususnya tahap sarjana, tentunya mahasiswa akan melalui beberapa tahapan yang harus dilalui; salah satunya adalah Tugas Akhir. Hal ini merupakan suatu keharusan dan patut dilalui oleh mahasiswa agar dapat memperoleh gelar sesuai kompetensi masing-masing. Sistem informasi ini dikembangkan dengan tujuan untuk memudahkan mahasiswa dalam mendaftar beberapa tahapan menuju Tugas Akhir; seperti pendaftaran perkuliahan MPTI dan pendaftaran seminar proposal. Pengembangan berbasis web juga akan memberikan manfaat berupa efisiensi, karena mahasiswa pendaftar bisa langsung mendaftar di suatu website tanpa perlu dialihkan lagi ke link eksternal di luar website itu sendiri. Pengembangan website dilakukan dengan memanfaatkan framework CodeIgniter dengan MySQL sebagai databasenya. CodeIgniter memiliki beberapa keunggulan antara lain ukuran file yang kecil, dokumentasi yang lengkap, mudah dipelajari, serta kompatibilitas dengan hosting, dan kemudahan dalam membuat website yang banyak berinteraksi dengan database.
