Abstract

Nowadays, technological developments are undergoing very rapid progress, especially with the support of Internet services that are highly focused almost all industries in various sectors require Internet networking. In today's era of global communication, companies need to get information quickly, and to this, they need to have a stable Internet network to support their operations. Forecastle Indonesia uses 2 (two) Internet connections from different Internet Service Providers (ISPs). However, in its application only one Internet connection is used, for the other ISPs only as a backup, so that the main ISP connections are used by the entire department of the company. Because it relies on only one source of connection, the source of the connection often experiences full traffic because of the large number of users accessing it, which makes the internet connection feel slow. One way to solve the problem is to implement load balancing techniques where the bandwidth of the two connections of the ISP is used simultaneously as a means of anticipating the need for the band width. Load Balancing is a technique for distributing traffic through several available link networks to increase throughput, reduce response time or avoid excessive traffic accumulation. Keywords : Internet, Bandwith, Load Balance, PBR, Mikrotik Saat ini perkembangan teknologi mengalami kemajuan yang sangat pesat, apalagi dengan dukungan layanan internet yang sangat mumpuni hampir semua industri di berbagai sektor memerlukan jaringan internet. Di era komunikasi global saat ini, perusahaan harus mendapatkan informasi secara cepat. Untuk mencapai hal ini, perusahaan harus memiliki jaringan internet yang stabil untuk membantu kegiatan operasional perusahaan. Penelitian ini dilakukan di PT. Forecastle Indonesia. Untuk memenuhi kebutuhan internet pada perusahaan, PT. Forecastle Indonesia menggunakan 2 (dua) koneksi internet dari Internet Service Provider (ISP) yang berbeda. Namun pada penerapannya hanya 1 koneksi internet yang digunakan, untuk ISP lainya hanya sebagai backup saja, sehingga koneksi ISP utama tersebut digunakan oleh seluruh departement perusahaan. Karena hanya bergantung pada satu sumber koneksi saja membuat sumber koneksi tersebut sering mengalami full traffic karena banyaknya user yang mengakses sehingga membuat koneksi internet terasa lambat. Salah satu cara untuk mengatasi masalah ini adalah dengan menggunakan teknik load balancing, yang menggunakan bandwidth kedua koneksi ISP secara bersamaan untuk mengantisipasi kebutuhan bandwidth. Teknik ini membagi beban jaringan, atau trafik, melalui beberapa link jaringan yang tersedia. Ini meningkatkan throughput, mengurangi waktu respons, dan mencegah penumpukan trafik yang berlebihan..
