Abstract

ABSTRAK Banyak industri dan universitas yang berdiri di Jakarta serta kota – kota sekitarnya seperti Depok, Bekasi, Bogor dan Tagerang. Hal ini menyebabkan Jakarta dan sekitarnya menjadi kota sibuk yang padat penduduk. Sehingga, dibangun banyak hunian indekos sebagai solusi tempat tinggal bagi mereka yang sibuk beraktifitas di Jakarta baik sekolah, kuliah, maupun bekerja. Padatnya aktifitas seringkali membuat mereka penat namun cukup lelah jika harus pergi untuk sekedar duduk menikmati kopi di kafe. Sehingga, dilakukanlah penelitian mengenai kegiatan apa saja yang biasa dilakukan sewaktu senggang saat para penghuni indekos sedang berada di kamar kost-nya dengan metode penelitian kualitatif yakni dengan mewawancarai target pengguna secara langsung dengan tujuan, untuk mengetahui produk apa yang dapat menunjang waktu bersantai dan kegiatan lainnya yang dilakukan penghuni indekos selama waktu senggang mereka. Dari hasil penelitian, didapatkan data bahwa rata – rata kegiatan yang mereka lakukan saat waktu senggang di kamar kost-nya adalah mendengarkan bersantai, musik, menonton film menggunakan laptop, bekerja dan belajar secara online. Didapatkan kesimpulan bahwa para penghuni indekos ini membutuhkan produk yang dapat menunjang waktu bersantai mereka yang tidak hanya multifungsi namun juga space saving yang dapat menyesuaikan dengan kondisi keterbatasan ruang dari kamar kost mereka. Sehingga, didesainlah Me-stool sebagai produk yang dapat menjadi jawaban dari permasalahan yang didapat dari penelitian yang telah dilakukan. Kata Kunci : Indekos, Multifungsi, Space Saving ABSTRACT Many industries and universities are established in Jakarta and the surrounding cities such as Depok, Bekasi, Bogor and Tagerang. This causes Jakarta and its surroundings to become busy cities that are densely populated. Thus, many boarding houses were built as a solution for those who are busy doing activities in Jakarta, be it at school, college or work. Busy activities often make them tired but tired enough if they have to go to just sit and enjoy coffee in a cafe. Thus, research was carried out on what activities are usually carried out in their spare time when the residents of the boarding house are in their boarding rooms with a qualitative research method, namely by interviewing the target users directly with the aim, to find out what products can support leisure time and other activities. what do boarders do during their spare time? From the results of the study, it was found that the average activities they do in their spare time in their boarding rooms are listening to relax, music, watching movies using a laptop, working and studying online. It was concluded that the residents of this boarding house need a product that can support their leisure time which is not only multifunctional but also space saving which can adapt to the limited space conditions of their boarding room. So, the Me-stool was designed as a product that can be the answer to the problems obtained from the research that has been done. Keywords : Boarding House, Multifunctional, Space Saving
