Abstract

Karena kegiatan perbankan semakin berkembang sedangkan kondisi gedung Bank Indonesia lama sudah tidak memadai dan gedung lama sudah berusia 102 tahun, maka gedung Bank Indonesia mengalami pemekaran menjadi 2 bangunan. Tetapi keberadaan Kantor Bank Indonesia baru ini menuai beberapa kritikan dari sejumlah kalangan yang menjadikan sebuah kontroversi adanya pro kontra. Bentuk bangunan yang kontras, didominasi dengan material kaca dan bentuk bangunan persegi mencerminkan kekinian zaman dan tidak ramah terhadap bangunan klasik yang berada di sekelilingnya merusak citra kawasan heritage di Jalan Jendral Sudirman. Vernacular adalah bahasa setempat, dalam arsitektur istilah ini untuk menyebut bentuk-bentuk yang menerapkan unsur-unsur budaya, lingkungan termasuk iklim setempat, diungkapkan dalam bentuk fisik arsitektural (tata letak denah, struktur, detail-detail bagian, ornamen). Kata kunci : Kantor Bank Indonesia, Tropis Because banking activities are growing while the condition of the old Bank Indonesia building is no longer adequate and the old building is 102 years old, the Bank Indonesia building has been divided into 2 buildings. However, the existence of the new Bank Indonesia Office has drawn criticism from a number of circles, which has created a controversy over the pros and cons. The contrasting form of the building, dominated by glass material and the square shape of the building reflects the contemporary era and is not friendly to the classical buildings that surround it, damaging the image of the heritage area on Jalan Jendral Sudirman. Vernacular is the local language, in architecture this term refers to forms that apply elements of culture, the environment including the local climate, expressed in architectural physical forms (layout plans, structures, parts details, ornaments).
