Abstract
PT Steel Center Indonesia is a manufacturing company engaged in automotive. One of the products produced is steel sheet for the manufacture of chassis toyota cars, Daihatsu, Mitshubisi. The Company always strives to produce quality products, however, the fact in the field found many products that do not meet the standards set. This study aims to analyze defects in steel sheet products due to handling hoist cranes. The DMAIC method is data-driven troubleshooting, making incremental improvements and optimizations to the product. The research began in the period July 2019 - June 2020 production part. Based on the results of the study, there are 6 types of defects. Namely butsu (22%), slip mark (16%), tiger mark (14%), burry up (12%), scratch (10%), and dent as the highest defect with percentage (26%) due to handling hoist crane. The factors that cause defects are thin sheet products (0.4 mm - 1.0 mm), no elbow as protective sheet product, operator does not understand working standards. The results of the control map obtained the value of defects that crossed the control limit in December 2019 and March 2020. So repairs must be made immediately so that losses can be minimized. The solution provided is to make work instructions and socialized to the operator of the crane hoist, conduct new operator training, and add protective elbow sheet products. Key word : Quality Control, Defect, DMAIC PT Steel Center Indonesia adalah perusahaan manufaktur yang bergerak di bidang otomotif. Salah satu produk yang dihasilkan adalah sheet baja untuk pembuatan chasis mobil Toyota, Daihatsu, Mitshubisi. Perusahaan selalu berupaya menghasilkan produk yang berkualitas, akan tetapi kenyataan di lapangan banyak ditemukan produk yang tidak sesuai standar yang ditetapkan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis cacat produk sheet baja akibat handling hoist crane. Metode DMAIC merupakan penyelesaian masalah berbasis data, membuat perbaikan bertahap dan optimalisasi pada produk. Penelitian dimulai pada periode Juli 2019 - Juni 2020 bagian produksi. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, terdapat 6 jenis cacat. Yaitu butsu (22%), slip mark (16%), tiger mark (14%), burry up (12%), scratch (10%), dan penyok sebagai cacat tertinggi dengan persentase (26%) akibat handling hoist crane. Faktor yang menjadi penyebab cacat adalah produk sheet yang tipis (0,4 mm - 1,0 mm), tidak ada siku sebagai pelindung produk sheet, operator kurang mengerti standar kerja. Hasil penelitian dari peta kendali diperoleh nilai cacat yang melewati batas kendali yaitu di bulan Desember 2019 dan Maret 2020. Sehingga perbaikan harus segera dilakukan agar kerugian bisa diminimalisasi. Solusi yang diberikan adalah membuat instruksi kerja dan disosialisasikan kepada operator hoist crane, melakukan training operator baru, dan menambah siku pelindung produk sheet.
