Abstract

Airplanes are a popular mode of air transportation because they have a good level of safety and comfort. The heat exchanger is the main component in the air conditioning system and keeps the temperature in a comfortable condition to keep the aircraft in a safe condition. The heat exchanger on this Boeing 737-500 aircraft has decreased effectiveness due to fouling factors and damage to the core lattice on the heat exchanger. Dirt covers the lattice of the heat exchanger so that heat transfer cannot work optimally, and damage to the lattice core which is made of Aluminum Alloy makes the lattice easily damaged so that the effectiveness of the heat exchanger decreases drastically. Modifying cleaning and changing materials aim to increase the effectiveness of the heat exchanger and numerical studies are carried out to obtain accurate data. The data were collected based on the test results using the existing test stand to determine the before and after comparison by modifying the cleaning process on the Heat Exchanger. The replacement of this material is carried out by analysis using the ansys program to determine the ratio of heat transfer between Aluminum Alloy and Aluminium 6061 T6. Good operational maintenance increases the effectiveness of the heat exchanger by 8- 11% compared to before treatment. This study also shows that fluid velocity causes damage to the core lattice as proven in the ANSYS program, and changing the material is one of the right options to increase the effectiveness of the heat exchanger more optimally by replacing the material made of Aluminium 6061 T6 which is proven to provide a difference of 3-5 oC. Keywords: Temperature, Fouling, Core lattice damage, LifeTime Pesawat moda transportasi udara yang digemari masyarakat karena memiliki tingkat safety dan kenyamanan yang baik. Heat Exchanger merupakan komponen utama dalam sistem pengkondisian udara dan menjaga suhu tetap dalam kondisi nyaman untuk menjaga pesawat tetap dalam kondisi safety. Heat Exchanger pada pesawat Boeing 737-500 ini mengalami penurunan efektivitas karena faktor fouling dan kerusakan kisi core pada heat exchanger. Kotoran menutupi kisi-kisi heat exchanger sehingga perpindahan panas tidak dapat berkerja dengan optimal, serta kerusakan pada kisi-kisi core yang dimana berbahan Aluminium Alloy membuat kisi-kisi mudah rusak sehingga efektivitas heat exchanger menurun drastis. Memodifikasi cleaning dan pergantian material bertujuan untuk meningkatkan efektivitas heat exchanger serta dilakukan studi numerik untuk mendapatkan data yang akurat. Data-data dikumpulkan berdasarkan hasil pengujian menggunakan test stand yang ada untuk mengetahui perbandingan sebelum dan sesudah dengan memodifikasi proses cleaning pada Heat Exchanger. Penggantian material ini dilakukan dengan analisis menggunakan program ansys untuk mengetahui perbandingan perpindahan panas antara Aluminium Alloy dengan Aluminium 6061 T6. Operational perawatan yang baik meningkatkan efektivitas heat exchanger meningkat 8-11% dibanding sebelum melakukan perawatan. Penelitian ini juga menunjukkan bahwa kecepatan fluida menyebabkan kerusakan pada kisi-kisi core terbukti pada program ansys, dan pergantian material salah satu opsi yang tepat untuk meningkatkan efektivitas heat exchanger lebih optimal dengan mengganti material berbahan Aluminium 6061 T6 terbukti memberikan selisih 3-5 oC.
