Abstract
In this study, the authors designed an FTTB network using GPON technology at Pusdiklat X for network modernization. There are 7 buildings connected in this FTTB network. The design method combines quantitative and qualitative approaches through Google Earth and Optisystem software. The research objective was to analyze the network design steps, including design, implementation, and evaluation of results. The simulation involved signal analysis at the farthest and nearest building between the service center (OLT) and the subscriber (ONT). The results showed the design achieved Power Link Budget according to ITU.T G.984 standard. The quality of service was tested with Optisystem simulator. At the closest distance, PRx -15.466 dBm, BER 3.50327e-272, and Q Factor 35.2297. At the farthest distance, PRx -15.526 dBm, BER 1.27188e-305, and Q Factor 37.3498. Likewise, upstream, PRx -15.466 dBm, BER 3.50327e-272, and Q Factor -35.2297, and at the farthest distance, PRx -15.537 dBm, BER 1.7477e-293, and Q Factor 36.5944. The results obtained are within the expected standard range, which is between -8 dBm to -28 dBm. So it can be concluded that this design simulation is feasible to implement because all parameters are still within the maximum acceptable limits. Keywords : FTTX, GPON, Optical Fiber, Network Development, Network deployment.
