Abstract

This research aims to increase local historical and cultural content in Indonesia with animated films that are considered lacking in quantity and quality, resulting in a lack of interest in competition in the animation industry, especially those that raise local historical and cultural content. In achieving the research objectives, the authors used a qualitative research method with interview data collection techniques to historians and animators who have been in their field for a long time, observing several similar animated films to study the technical delivery of visual storytelling and its effect on the audience. This was done using the 5W+1H analysis technique. The end result of this design is a visual storytelling that displays a short movie of a summary of some of Raden Wijaya's stories about the founding of the Majapahit kingdom in an informal educational narrative style. So that the audience can be interested in terms of entertainment and education, both narratively and visually storytelling. Keywords: Short Film, Local Content, Majapahit, Raden Wijaya Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan konten lokal sejarah dan kebudayaan di Indonesia dengan film animasi yang dinilai kurang dalam kuantitas dan kualitas, sehingga menimbulkan kurang adanya ketertarikan kompetisi dalam industri animasi terutama yang mengangkat konten lokal sejarah dan kebudayaan. Dalam mencapai tujuan penelitian, penulis menggunakan metode penelitian secara kualitatif dengan teknik pengumpulan data wawancara kepada ahli sejarah dan pelaku animasi yang telah menekuni bidangnya dari lama, observasi terhadap beberapa film animasi sejenis untuk mempelajari teknis penyampaian visual storytelling dan pengaruhnya ke audiens. Hal tersebut dilakukan dengan teknik analisis 5W+1H. Hasil akhir dari perancangan ini yaitu sebuah visual storytelling yang menampilkan short movie dari rangkuman sebagian cerita Raden wijaya tentang berdirinya kerajaan Majapahit dengan gaya cerita naratif edukatif informal. Sehingga audiens dapat tertarik dari segi hiburan dan segi edukasi, baik secara naratif maupun visual storytelling. Kata Kunci: Film Pendek, Konten Lokal, Majapahit, Raden Wijaya
