Abstract

Laut adalah sumber energi yang tidak terbatas salah satunya adalah gelombang. Gelombang laut mengandung energi potensial dan energi kinetik yang dapat diubah mengunakan Wave Energy Converter (WEC) menjadi energi mekanik yang dapat menggerakkan dinamo pembangkit menjadi listrik.Pemanfaatan gelombang laut sebagai energi ramah lingkungan masih sangat jarang terutama di negara Indonesia. Dengan menggunakan WEC yang sesuai didapat hasil konversi energi gelombang menjadi energi lainnya lebih maksimal. Untuk memperolah energi gelombang laut tersebut WEC dalam pemasangannya bisa dilakukan di pesisir pantai (onshore), dekat pantai (nearshore) atau di lepas pantai (offshore), dari ketiga metode tadi ada kekurangan dan kelebihannya. Penentuan pemasangan WEC tergantung dari kondisi tinggi gelombang, kedalaman laut, kondisi alam dan demografi penduduk. Berdasar hal tersebut penulis merancang purwarupa WEC dengan hasil yang didapat nilai tinggi gelombang laut di pantai utara jawa berkisar 47 cm dan waktu di pagi hari maupun di sore hari, rasio setengah putaran 160 rpm, putaran penuh 237 rpm rasio ideal putaran penuh 2 kali setengah putaran gelombang, nilai rata-rata energi yang dihasilkan di malam pagi hari dan malam hari sama 303 Watt, serta tegangan yang dihasilkan stabil 14 Volt yang menandakan purwarupa WEC hasil rancangan sesuai yang diinginkan. Kata Kunci: EBT, Purwarupa, Wave Energy Converter (WEC) The sea is an unlimited source of energy, one of which is waves. Ocean waves contain potential energy and kinetic energy which can be converted using a Wave Energy Converter (WEC) into mechanical energy which can drive a generator dynamo into electricity. The use of ocean waves as environmentally friendly energy is still very rare, especially in Indonesia. By using the appropriate WEC, the results of converting wave energy into other energy will be maximized. To obtain ocean wave energy, WEC can be installed on the coast (onshore), near the coast (nearshore) or offshore (offshore). Of the three methods, there are advantages and disadvantages. The determination of installing WEC depends on the conditions of wave height, sea depth, natural conditions and population demographics. Based on this, the authors designed a WEC prototype with the results obtained that the height of the sea waves on the north coast of Java ranged from 47cm and the time in the morning and in the afternoon, half rotation ratio of 160 rpm, full rotation of 237 rpm ideal ratio of full rotation of 2 times half wave rotation, the average value of energy generated in the morning and evening is the same 303 watts, and the resulting voltage is stable at 14 volts which indicates the designed prototype WEC is as desired.
