Abstract

In one of the companies engaged in wall paint in Indonesia in this study has a packaging working group, in the packaging department there are 4 machines in this division. One of the problems that exist is the deviation between planning and productivity, the achievement of the output of the paint packaging machine in achieving the production plan that has been set. Based on the exposure, the focal point of the research is an effort to reduce the time needed to set-up the machine with the approach of the Single Minute Exchange of Dies (SMED), 5S, and Layout Improvement methods. The implementation of SMED, 5S, and Layout Improvement is applied to Shrink machines, AOD machines, Pallet Robot machines, and Filling De Vree machines. The result is the set-up time in shrink machine, AOD machine, Pallet Robot machine, and Filling De Vree machine based on calculations obtained a comparison of set-up time before and after conversion of internal set-up activity to external set-up. The calculation results showed for the Shrink machine before the conversion of the activity was 94.22 seconds and after conversion to 75.66 seconds, the AOD machine before conversion was 198.85 seconds and after conversion to 149.54 seconds, the Robot pallet machine before conversion was 278.98 seconds and after being 122.57 seconds, the Filling De Vree machine before conversion was 1699.50 seconds and after it became 803.16 seconds. By applying the SMED concept, it reduces 49% of set-up time on the wall paint packaging process. Key words : Lean Manufacturing, Single Minute Exchange of Dies (SMED), 5S, Layout Improvement. Pada salah satu perusahaan yang bergerak dalam bidang cat dinding di Indonesia pada penelitian ini memiliki kelompok kerja pengemasan, di department pengemasan terdapat 4 mesin pada divisi ini. Salah satu permasalahan yang ada adalah adanya deviasi antara planning dengan produktivitas, tidak tercapainya output dari mesin pengemasan cat dalam mencapai planning produksi yang telah ditetapkan. Berdasarkan pemaparan tersebut, maka titik fokus pada penelitian adalah upaya mereduksi waktu yang dibutuhkan untuk melakukan set-up mesin dengan pendekatan metode Single Minute Exchange of Dies (SMED), 5S, dan Layout Improvement. Penerapan SMED, 5S, dan Layout Improvement diterapkan pada mesin Shrink, mesin AOD, mesin Pallet Robot, dan mesin Filling De Vree. Hasilnya waktu set-up di mesin Shrink, mesin AOD, mesin Pallet Robot, dan mesin Filling De Vree berdasarkan perhitungan didapatkan perbandingan waktu set-up sebelum dan setelah konversi aktivitas internal set-up menjadi eksternal set-up. Hasil perhitungan menunjukan untuk mesin Shrink sebelum konversi aktivitas adalah 94,22 detik dan setelah konversi menjadi 75,66 detik, mesin AOD sebelum konversi adalah 198,85 detik dan setelah konversi menjadi 149,54 detik, mesin pallet Robot sebelum konversi adalah 278,98 detik dan setelah menjadi 122,57 detik, mesin Filling De Vree sebelum konversi adalah 1699,50 detik dan setelah menjadi 803,16 detik. Dengan menerapkan konsep SMED, mengurangi 49% waktu set-up pada proses pengemasan cat dinding. Kata Kunci : Lean Manufacturing, Single Minute Exchange of Dies (SMED), 5S, Layout Improvement
