Abstract

The A330 is a wide-body aircraft that can operate with a range of up to 15,000 km. The cargo compartment of this aircraft is included in the pressurized area, so that every component inside it must be able to withstand the pressurization load. One of the components that withstands this pressurization is the inner lower skin. Failure of the door sill latch system often results in chafing on the inner lower skin component. If the skin damage is not repaired immediately, it can cause a pressurized area leak, causing the aircraft to experience decompression. This condition can cause crew and passengers to experience a condition called Hypoxia. This study aims to analyze the strength and cost efficiency of each chafing repair option on the inner lower skin on the Forward Cargo Door of the A330 aircraft. The repair options tested were complete part replacement and the repair doubler method. The results of the study showed that the repair option with complete part replacement had the highest strength result, but the repair option with the repair doubler method had a strength result that was not significant and had a lower cost compared to the complete part replacement. Keywords: Chafing, Inner Lower Skin, Forward Cargo Door, A330 Aircraft, Repair, Strength, Cost Efficiency Pesawat A330 adalah pesawat berbadan besar yang dapat beroperasi dengan jarak tempuh menengah hingga 15.000 km. Kompartemen kargo pesawat ini termasuk ke dalam pressurized area, sehingga setiap komponen di dalamnya harus mampu menahan beban pressurization. Salah satu komponen yang menahan pressurization ini adalah inner lower skin. Kegagalan sistem door sill latch sering mengakibatkan chafing pada komponen inner lower skin. Bila kerusakan skin tidak segera diperbaiki dapat menimbulkan kebocoran pressurize area lalu menyebabkan pesawat mengalami dekompresi. Kondisi ini dapat menyebabkan crew dan penumpang mengalami suatu kondisi yang disebut Hipoksia. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis kekuatan dan efisiensi biaya dari masing-masing opsi perbaikan chafing pada inner lower skin pada Forward Cargo Door pesawat A330. Opsi perbaikan yang diuji adalah penggantian part secara utuh dan metode repair doubler. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa opsi perbaikan dengan penggantian part secara utuh memiliki hasil kekuatan tertinggi, namun opsi perbaikan dengan metode repair doubler menjadi pilihan terbaik karena memiliki hasil kekuatan dengan perbedaan yang tidak signifikan dan biaya yang lebih murah dibandingkan melakukan penggantian part.
