Abstract
This study aims to understand the effect of parental values on the positive practice of parenting parents who have children aged 4-6 years. The subjects of this study were parents who had children aged 4-6 years in the South Tangerang and West Jakarta regions obtained by incidental sampling techniques. The sample in this study were 200 parents (female N = 197, N male = 3). In this study the values gauge was compiled by researchers based on the theory of Luster and his colleagues (1989) and the scale of parenting practices from Skinner and his colleagues (2005) that had been adapted by researchers into Indonesian. Based on data analysis using simple regression analysis obtained by the square r coefficient of 0.208. This means that there is an influence of parental values on the practice of parenting parents who have children aged 4-6 years in South Tangerang. Keywords: parental values, positive parenting practices, parents who have children 4-6 years. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memahami pengaruh parental values terhadap positive parenting practice orang tua yang memiliki anak usia 4-6 tahun. Subjek penelitian ini adalah orang tua yang memiliki anak usia 4-6 tahun di wilayah Tangerang Selatan dan Jakarta Barat yang diperoleh dengan teknik insidental sampling. Sampel dalam penelitian ini sebanyak 200 orang tua (N perempuan= 197, N laki-laki= 3). Dalam penelitian ini alat ukur values disusun oleh peneliti berdasarkan teori dari Luster dan rekan-rekannya (1989) dan Skala positive parenting practice dari Skinner dan rekan-rekannya (2005) yang telah diadaptasi oleh peneliti ke dalam bahasa Indonesia. Berdasarkan analisis data menggunakan analisis regresi sederhana diperoleh koefisien r square sebesar 0,208. Hal ini berarti terdapat pengaruh parental values terhadap positive parenting practice orang tua yang memiliki anak usia 4-6 tahun di Tangerang Selatan.
